i think she trusts all OF her adoptive family and she loves and adores them. yes, she wishes she were a human but i am not sure she grieves and mourns every second of the day about it, she's not whiny. It's not like that, it's sort of an inner turmoil sort of. She isn't moaning about it, it's just her only wish, something that she really really wants.
After breaking dawn, i think she embraces her being a vampire much more, i think.

True, but i think she only embraced it because there's a baby in the family now.. someone she can watch over. now she's a godmother and knows she can keep emmett forever so she gets both things she wants. i also don't like the fact that she's only friends with bella now because of her daughter...

^She always knew she'd get to keep Emmett forever. She knew there was no possible way for her to become human - but someone can dream, don't we all want something that we dream about, that are unlikely but you know, you're still wishing?

She's not friends with bella because of her baby. Rosalie likes Bella because bella finally made a choice that Rosalie would have, bella said something along the lines of "we have fought together for the same thing long enough and that seemed to earse her resentment for me. I've made the choice she would have and that seemed to clear her aversion to all my previous choices" - something along there.

I always found that Rose always came off cruel to Bella, but I think some of that went away when Bella went to Italy to save Edward. Rose missed her brother, and was happy to see him again.

I do think that after Renesmee was born, Bella and her did become friends and not because of the baby, but because of the choice like Bella said in the book. Bella always had something that Rose would never have and that was a little baby. Since Bella kept the baby and knew if she didn't survive there would be someone to take care of the baby for her.

It was easier to understand where she was coming from towards Bella after Eclipse. She had almost everything she wanted, but at the same time nothing. It was sad to see that the man her parents chose for her was the reason she became a vampire in the first place, and she did get her revenge on him. Everyone wishes they were as beautiful as her, yet she is very jelous of them until Nessie comes along.

I know a lot of people really don't like Rosalie, especially because of the baby issue in Breaking Dawn, but here's what I think about Rosalie:

I personally really, really like Rosalie. I think she's such an interesting character, because she's the one Cullen who doesn't love Bella right away. I find Rosalie to be a very interesting character. And I also think she's nice, really. Sure, she has her moments when she can be obnoxious and irritating. But Rosalie's human life, and vampire life, too, is and was so hard. She was born into a family that loved her, and she was so happy as a human, but I don't think it's fair of people to say Rosalie's conceited. I agree, she does often think highly of herself, but it's really not her fault. Her parents clearly loved her, she was their favorite. They probably told her she was beautiful, amazing, etc. Of course she is, but I think the reason she's more.. full of herself, for lack of a better word, than the others is because of her past. And also, there's the night she was raped by those guys. And nearly murdered. She was treated so horribly, don't you think, even after more than a hundred years she might still be hurting from that? And let's not forget the fact that Rosalie so badly wanted children. Rosalie clearly isn't all that happy as a vampire. Of course she has Emmet, the love of her existence, but she can never have a child with him. When she tells Bella her story, a quote which really stuck with me, more each time I read the books, was "Do you want to hear my story, Bella? It doesn't have a happy ending-- but which of ours does? If we had happy endings we'd all be under gravestones right now." That clearly shows she isn't very happy as a vampire. Which brings me to the Breaking Dawn issue.

I think that Rosalie's defense of Bella's baby isn't selfish, I don't think Rosalie was trying to steal the baby or anything, or glad that Bella would die and Rosalie could have the baby. I think just the idea of any child, at all, is so much hope for Rosalie, that she's do basically anything. I think Rosalie really did care about Bella, too, and was happy to just be an 'aunt' figure, not a mother, because even just having a child in her life at all is so much more than Rosalie ever thought she would have.

So I really don't think it's fair when people accuse Rosalie of being mean, conceited and obnoxious.

I love the way you put that.
I believe that Rosalie did care for Bella. I think that feelings for Bella started to form when she saved Edward in Italy, so of course she would care if Bella died in Breaking Dawn. However, a baby is the one thing that Rosalie has wanted for so long. Suddenly, an opportunity for her to maybe not be a mother, but to have a baby in her life, has presented itself. Of course she is going to do everything in her power to protect that opportunity. I believe without a doubt that had Bella died, she would have fought everyone for Nessie, however that doesn’t mean she was hoping for Bella’s death.

She was raped and nearly beaten to death by her fiancée and his friends. That’s what led to her becoming a vampire, because Carlisle found her almost dead in the middle of the street. I would think that that is what people mean by a betrayal of love.

Moonflower, i see what you are saying about Rose and the baby. I don't necessarily agree, but it's a mere matter of interpretation.

However, I do think it's fair to say that Rosalie is mean, selfish, and conceited. Often we see her be really nasty when it's simply unwarranted, and SM herself says that Rosalie's main traits are vanity/conceit and selfishness.
