There's also the Love at Stake series by Kerrelyn Sparks (Millionaire Vamps)
I'm on book two of The Sharing Knife series by Bujold (No vamps, but alternate universe special powers romance stuff)

Great job, SuperTwin, on the book list.

All of the series must be read in order. Book 2 of DH is very important - please don't skip it.

As for Sookie aka Southern Vampire Mysteries - all of those books can be found at your local Wal-mart Supercenter under $6 a piece.

Today I bought a small anthology featuring Sherrilyn Kenyon & JR Ward. We'll see how good it is. The Sherrilyn Kenyon story features Fury, from Vane's story. Woo hoo! Hot dog!

Yes, Oleander, I have wondered the same thing. Having read the MS manuscript, it is easier to understand his moods. I also didn't have a problem with his reactions. Wait- just one; when they are in the meadow, and he yanks her arm, pulling her, telling her that she needs to see what he looks like in the sunlight. I always thought that he was a bit apprehensive to do this, and it just came across as angry in the movie.

Psshhtt- pornstache!!! I've never heard that phrase! Well, hubby's doesn't look like one, so he's good to go!

Thanks for the list. Oh, don't forget the Demonica series by Larissa Ione. The second book comes out in Feb. 2009. I'm going to order the DH books tomorrow. I really need to update my Shelfari. I'm so far behind.

Having read "Dark High Noon" def. helped me understand Edwards facial expressions more in Twilight the movie. In fact, I often felt that if you hadn't read the books or even just MS that you just wouldnt get all of what the movie was trying to express from the Twilight World or even just Edward. Some parts of the movie, I think, people might not fully understand if they haven't read the books. Its almost like they just expected us all to know what was going on. Granted, I did, , but I can totally understand why others were like "huh?"
But I get SO frustrated when people laugh or make noises at parts where you just arent supposed to. Like when Edward is sucking the venom out and he almost doesnt stop. Some people laugh because his face looks so awkward, but its like- "No, be quiet. You have to realize how much turmoil he is going through right there."
I just wanna be like "look at your face in a anger or crying situation, I bet it aint pretty."
I love it though when I get a theater where everyone laughs at the right spots and is quiet at the right spots. Im currently at #9 and am looking forward to when I can see it again(prob. this weekend). :D

Sheesh, you gals (and guys) have been busy.  Hahaha! I mean on the thread. Thanks for all your advice on dealing with my son. He really is a great kid. His running away is always to a friend's house. It's more sneaking out to play than running away. And we know his underlying issues are low self-esteem, but it's still hard to figure out what to do about it.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the movie discussion. I love hearing what others like and dislike about it. I have some of the same issues many of you have mentioned. I love the developing of the human characters. I love Charlie and Billy and their interaction. I love how most of the Cullen's were portrayed. I LOVE the nomads. I think they were able to make James look more . . . I don't know the word I'm looking for . . . "nomadic?" . . . "rough? " . . . and still look HOT. My favorite scenes were when Bella meets the rest of the Cullens and the baseball game. I feel they did a good job of sticking to the story and overall feel of the book.

What I didn't like . . . Well, first, some little details. Like has been mentioned, I also thought Jasper seemed stiff. And I didn't like his hair. I think they shouldn't have made Carlisle so blond. Peter really can't pull it off. He looks much better with his natural dark hair. I disliked Charlie's mustache. It looks cheesy. I also thought the sparkling was a bit funny, but after hearing how many things they tried, I guess they did the best they could. A few bigger issues - I don't like how they changed how Bella finds out about Edward. Yes, they used Jacob, but not the same. Looking at it from a movie position, they did simplify the plot overall. By making her use the book, we see her discovery, instead of it all being in her head. But that is what set up the slight change in the plot surrounding Port Angeles. And since Jacob didn't "tell" her, I wonder if that could potentially cause problems later (in sequels). Plot wise, my biggest dislike is the change in the meadow scene. It felt forced, and seemed like Edward was angry. I didn't feel the romantic pull there. Aside from the plot, my biggest issue is the stunt work. I had to grit my teeth to keep from laughing at the wire work. It was too obvious. Well, I thought it was good in the ballet studio scene, but when it was used just to simulate speed, well, I've seen better. Okay, enough nit-picking. Overall, I really did like the movie, and can't wait to see it again to see what I missed.

P.S. Nice color change, Nena!

New thread! Well, alright! Hope everyone had a good holiday, and ate plenty. Glad to see some new faces--WELCOME!!

Movie likes...Jasper. Good or bad, I liked him. Alice, too. The restaurant mind reading scene was funny. The other things I liked were sprinkled around in there, too. Charlie was good. So was Billy, I thought. I even thought Taylor did a pretty good job with Jacob, considering.

Movie dislikes..."Spider Monkey"???? The whole killing scenes with the factory worker/guy in the boat. Also, the bookstore scene sort of left me stumped. I understand that budget and time constraints might force some tampering with the novel. I do. But I don't get why they made some of the changes they did. Example: they already had the scene with Jacob on the beach, so why not devote more time to it, rather than the bookstore scene?

Okay, no more picking. I enjoyed it (plus, BDE and I made a date out of it!!!).

AND we got our Christmas tree!!! That's one of my favorite parts!

Spoon!! Great to see you and glad to hear that you and BDE had a date night with Twilight! I still need to get the tree from the attic and put it up.

Bewitched, I thought I was the only one that has read the Demonica Series (yes, all 1 book of it  ) by Larissa Ione. I really enjoyed it and can't wait, Book 2 is due out in March 2009 and Book 3 is April 2009! Yippee! Oh and for those interested, book 1 is Pleasure Unbound...

I totally agree. I loved those parts as well. I also liked it when Alice jumped on James' back and snapped his neck. I think my mouth flew open in shock but it was a good shock. I love it when tiny girls kick butt!

Actually all I've read is the first chapter of Midnight Sun but I really understood what Rob was trying to do with Edward. I did relate to Bella a lot but I was also able to take myself out of her POV and see Edward for the tormented, confused vampire that he really was. I read an interview with Rob before the movie came out where he said that he tried to play up the manic depressive, self-loathing side of Edward instead of the superhero that Bella saw and that interview made me really happy with his casting. I thought he did a great job of showing the real Edward.

I totally enjoyed the movie and I have expressed my likes and dislikes but one thing that I couldn't get past was when Edward showed Bella what happens to them in the sunlight and that sound effect that they used made it all seem really cheesy.

I know that I was disappointed with the sparkling scene but the whole Tinkerbell/Sandman sound effect made it totally worse.
