Re: Chapter 1 ~ First Impressions
1. Did you relate to Bella right away? If so, what part of her did you identify with? Not in the least. I'm plain-looking and I suppose I'm 'unpopular', but I have some friends, for goodness' sake, and I don't whine (all the time...). Also, I love the cold. I love the rain. I love Washington. I don...
Re: The Plot
Well, it's an interesting idea. I'll give her that. The plot started a bit slow and there weren't any unexpected twists- I called everything, including the happily ever after. What I don't get is why she is planning sequels (if in fact she is...?). I mean, she gave her characters their happy ending....

Re: Twilight verses the Host
I do think Meyer did a better job of character development in the Host, though there were still some stereotypes and the whole pretty=good thing. I also think her descriptive style was much better in the Host, probably because she'd *been* in the desert when she wrote it, rather than Twilight, where...

Re: Are your parents OK with vampires?
My parents hate vampires, but dad's of the opinion that I need to grow up balanced and well-read so he refuses to censor anything, for which I am very grateful. Every so often mom'll be like "I don't want you reading books about vampires (or serial killers, in the case of The String of Pearls/Sweene...

Re: What did you think of the Twilight Series?
Well generally I'm not big on romance at all, so when the Twilight craze hit the school and I found out it was a vampire romance I was very skeptical and decided to steer far, far away from the books with the pretty covers. Anyway, a few months later- I'd forgotten all about Twilight by this time- w...

Re: Twilight verses the Host
Meh. I'm a big science fiction nut- I get it from my dad- and I'm a big vampire fan. I guess part of the reason I don't like Meyer's books is she apparently writes them for people who don't like [insert genre here]. If I had to choose, I suppose I would say Twilight because the idea behind Twilight ...

Re: Technology in the Twilight series
Speaking of which, why doesn't Charlie have some kind of alarm system in his house? He's a cop, I'd think he'd be more security conscious than most, but apparently the only security he has is a simple deadbolt on his front door. I would think he felt that he didn't need an alarm in a city with a po...

Re: Imprinting
Meyer never went outright and said, "oh, Sam attacked Emily 'cause she defended her cousin and denied him... at first," no. Let's see... from New Moon: You've seen Emily. Sam lost control of his temper for just one second… and she was standing too close. And now there's nothing he can ever do to put...

Re: Technology in the Twilight series
Ah, yes. That makes more sense. Thanks for clearing that up. It is kind of strange, though, how Charlie didn't at least get Bella a cheap cellphone for emergencies; he's a cop after all. I know my mom literally dragged me to a communications store and made me get a cellphone so she could get in touc...

Re: Imprinting
I hate imprinting. I hate the entire idea. I don't find it romantic, I find it creepy and disturbing. Think about it, for a minute, from the imprintee's point of view. You're a normal girl. Maybe you're single, maybe you're married with kids, maybe you're a five year old who likes to hold tea partie...
