Yeah!! We are back!

Long ago, in Stephenie's fatal computer crash she lost the pictures of Bella's and Alice's prom dresses and Bella's wedding dress. Some fabulous fan helped her locate the missing prom dress pictures, but Bella's dress is still lost. Back in the original Bella's Wedding Dress thread, we were posting pictures that fit the criteria in the book. In November of '07 Stephenie graced the thread and gave us more details. (I knew I should have copied her exact post!!) In order to make it easier to see the dresses we found that fit all her criteria, I set up a website http://www.geocities.com/belladress asking for poeple to pm me when they found a dress that fit ALL the criteria and I would upload it to the site. We could then see all the dresses in one place!

Imagine my surprise when Stephenie herself emailed me some photos of dresses that were close, but not exactly right!!! (Yeah, I fan-girl squeed!!) Long story short. You can see it all at http://www.geocities.com/belladress, including Stephenie's added desciptions and her pictures.

If you would like to join in the hunt, please email/pm with any dresses and their URLs so I can link them to their original site. Thanks for your help!!

At the Host Signing here in UT, I mentioned to Stephenie, in the brief nano-seconds I had while she signed my books, that we had found over 40 dresses that fit her description and we would love her to take a look at them. I handed her sister Emily the address ('cuz she was a bit busy--lol), but somehow I don't think it made it back to Stephenie. So, it's a long shot, but if you see her, tell her to check the site and tell us if we found the dress! In the meantime, please keep looking!

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but,

Why didn't Bella get a chance to see herself in the mirror before the wedding? Any thoughts?

i have no idea honestly. Maybe because Alice was just so excited about the wedding plans. So it just slipped her mind. we all know how alice can get.
And i think it was good becuase then Edward was able to show Bella how she looked. and it was perfect. Because in a way she saw what he sees in her everyday.

Oh me and my friend found this Dress when we were in Seattle for the Breaking Dawn Concert Signing so i thought i would share it somewhat has era flair. With the lace and even the shoes somewhat. And then their is the parasol. So check it out.

We even found a dress that alice might like for herself lol. We made sure we got the shoes in the picture.

I've been trying to access the goecitites website since the polls opened back up, but it won't work for me. And love2dream, I didn't want to clean the kitchen while my boys were sleeping, and I did some searching for Steph's post, it sounded like you didn't have it, so, here it is:
Stephenie wrote:
I wish I still had the picture I based the description of Bella's dress on, but it was lost in my fateful computer crash. Those of you who are going with the old fashioned look are on the right track. Two key words to aid in the search: art nouveau. It's a simpler style than the frillier Edwardian stuff. Elegant white satin, cut on the bias, with long sleeves (the strapless thing is a very recent development. It wasn't even popular when I was getting married, only 13 years ago, much less during the modest turn of the century).

I search google images for the dress every now and then. I'll let you know if I find something close one of these days.
and the link to her post and the old Lex's thread...

When posting in this thread, make sure you only post links to graphics (help save the bandwith) and also make sure to take into consideration the description of the gown:

Eclipse p 614: "Anne of Green Gable"-ish, more or less 1919, vintage lace, veil and train are Alice's design

Stephenie adds (Twilight Lexicon old board): old fashioned, Art Nouveau, elegant, white satin, bias-cut, long sleeved, simpler than the frilly Edwardian style.

I always picture something very elegant and old fashioned but with a modern touch. Something kinda like this:

thanks cynb for the quote and link! Nice to see another mom around the boards. I have two boys, myself.

The geocities site is a free site, so it can't handle a lot of traffic. It resets itself every hour so check back later. I am working on getting it a better home.
