Why didn't Bella get a chance to see herself in the mirror before the wedding? Any thoughts?
Remember when Edward pointed out to Bella how beautiful she was? I think SM wanted Edward to be the one to show Bella how she really was beautiful, and for him to see her reaction, that she FINALLY saw how she looked to him.

Exactly, that's what i loved the most about BD- it was when Bella finally realized her beauty, and best of all the person who sees her beauty the most showed it to her. I think SM did that intentionally to make the moment mroe memorable for Bella in her realization that she's NOT ordinary. Bella was always beautiful though she never realized it til Edward showed it to her; much like many of us who do not recognize our own beauty and it takes someone we love to open our eyes :D

I imagined her in something like the 4th one. She was really pretty in my mind.

I personally thought that her wedding dress would be a little more traditional looking that that, only because the wedding was basically designed around Edward and everything.

It's still pretty :D

I see something like this, based on what was said in Breaking Dawn... about the theme of the wedding being around Edward.

He was born in 1901, and immortalized in 1918.....

First series of pictures on Top.... Effie Crafts's dress.

Think Titanic period....

There is a part in the book that talks about a series of buttons on the back of the dress.....and there is no talk of cleavage, or bare shoulders... but there was a train she was afraid of tripping on going down the stairs.
Although that model doesn't look like it has buttons, the style would seem to fit though.

EDIT :
Check the buttons on this beauty !!!!.....

Even something like this.... even if it's not at all from the right era :

But THIS one hits the mark for me. This is how I imagine Bella's dress.

Stephenie Meyer said that her dress had long sleeves. And that strapless is a recent thing

That dress is gorgeous. I can definitely see that as a possibility.

I found this one that mostly fits with the way I imagined it:

I came across a few dresses similar to Stephenies description, not circa 1919 but still beautiful and Bella'ish!
