I was wondering whether his family owned slaves and what were his personal views on the matter.
We know he has the manners of a typical Southern gentleman, so I suppose it means he was part of the Southern "aristocracy" and shared their conviction that they would win the war in a few weeks because "one Rebel can easily take ten of those Yankees". It's weird to think he can have had the same excess of pride and arrogance than so many sons of planters, but of course he had plenty of time to change after he became a vampire.
Also, I noticed that, although Stephenie Meyer said he was 20 when he became a vampire, what he tells Bella in Eclipse contradicts it - since he says he was not even 17 yet when the war started (April 1861), he couldn't be more than 18 "by the first battle of Galveston" (October 1862).
as far as i know for a teen to be on the services he has to be 18.. and i think jasper cheated on his age.. then after 3 years (i think again!) when everyone thinks he's 23.. he was turned into a vampire... i dunno maye i have to read the book again...

I don't really know what it is about Jaspers character that draws me to him. I think its the fact that he's so mysterious all the time, and the fact that he it the newest to the vegetarian diet so he could snap really quickly, well like we all saw in new moon . He also seems very protective and i dunno haha I just love Jasper. hes definitely my fave character, along with Edward. Joint no.1 think

I totally love Jasper. He is my favorite charater because he is so unpredictable sometimes with bein all mysterious.

He joined the army before he was 17, but got turned into a vampire 3(ish) years later, during the war, when he was 20.
