I make up my own people in my head using the descriptions given. Usually. Unless of course the movie is out first and I see the actor before I get a chance to read the book. Then there's not hope for my imagination.

Lighter hair? Why? I think it needs to be darker since Ian's hair was black.

Anyway, the only actor I've been willing to assign to a character is Cam Gigandet for Kyle. I never, ever would have come up with that on my own, but these pictures are more or less exactly how I imagined Kyle to look (save for the hair, which needs to be darker- but life rarely gives you everything).

The other night I was thinking about Brendan Fehr as Ian. Now that I think about it, He would make a weird Ian, but I still can't shake the thought out of my head.

I've pictured Sophia Bush as Melanie, Ian Somerhalder as Ian, Jared Padelecki as Kyle, Jensen Ackles as Jared and that Skylar kid from the Narnia movies (the one who played Edmond) as Jamie. I'd have Elisabeth (sorry I can't remember her last name either) as Wanda/Pet.

I think it's silly when people say "I imagined [actor] as Jared and [actor] as Ian!" Why? There's really no sense in imaging anyone as anyone else. Ian doesn't look like anyone but Ian and Jared doesn't look like anyone but Jared. If they looked exactly like the actors you are imagining then that's who they would be. You know?

But when your reading you create a visual image in your head and often its what your familiar with…which for us would be actors and actress.
Because these people fit the description, in your head, that’s what you make them look like.

For Wanda…I always pictured someone with similar features to Taylor Swift…not Taylor Swift her self but the small frame, hair and skin tone are all there.
