For Melanie, I've been thinking of Natalie Portman. She's absolutely GORGEOUS, but in a very natural way. She can pull of the short hair, too.

I have many choices for Wanda in Pet's body:

Alexis Bledel (they'd have to dye her hair, obviously. She has A LOT of different looks, so look her up before you say yes or no)

Taylor Momsen MAYBE

Rosamund Pike (She´s BEAUTIFUL. The problem is, she's not that short. But otherwise, she's perfect! PLEASE look her up and look at a lot of pictures of her, especially from the 2005 movie of Pride and Prejudice. She can pull of many different looks.)

Amy Acker or Eliza Dushku would be awesome.

Actually Amy Acker would be perfect. She has experience in sci-fi/horror and has a played a character infected by a God and pulled off playing both characters wonderfully. She has an innocent look about her that I think would do well for the character.

Sorry but Megan Fox would not be a good fit unless she can really tone down her overly sexed up demeanor. . .In my opinion.

When do you think they are going to get around to properly casting?

I've always 100% pictured Megan Fox as Melanie.

They are actually in the process of casting right now! Exciting. Unfortunately, I don't know when the casting announcements will start rolling in. It is rumored that Ian Somerhalder has been cast to play Ian O'Shea, but that is just a rumor.

SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION: If you click on the link in my siggie, it will take you to the news blog of my HOST fansite. I post all and any information on the Host movie that I get directly on there. Enjoy!

How about Shannyn Sossamon? She's a great actress (anybody seen Wristcutters?) and is relatively unknown. She's about the right age (b 1978, but looks younger). Dark hair. Tannish skin. Could play soft or hard if needed.

What age do we think Melanie is (don't remember, but I see her as mid-20s).

Apparently, Saoirse Ronan has been cast as Melanie Stryder. What do you all think of this? She is not what I imagined, but she is an EXCELLANT actress!

I’m not familiar with this actress, but I’m hoping that things will start rolling for this film to be made. Right now, I’m thinking it’s a good idea to cast the same person as Melanie/Wanderer since as others pointed out Wanda is going to move on to a new host. Though voice-overs aren’t the most visually exciting, it is how I pictured it in my head. We only know Melanie by her voice until she gets her body back. I bet they’ll think of something a little more creative to help with that aspect. Either way, I hope Stephenie is successful at Cannes and they can start making another visual example of a great book by a fantastic author.

Oh, and I do hope that Stephenie gets her first choice for the director (Niccol).
