skylarblue wrote: So for those who have seen NM, how do you think it compared to TW? I'm still up in the air between the two but one thing I can say is that the wolf scenes were great! I didn't expect them to be so good but I couldn't be any happier with the outcome.
Skylar: I have been Team Edward throughout all the books, but really came to love Jacob when I reread NM on my multiple rereads. For the movies though, I do have to confess on being a Team Jacob girl. I don't think I'm being a traitor since the movies and the book are two different mediums. The growing Team Jacob mood says a lot to Taylor's acting and "being" Jacob- he was believable, warm, fun, and geniune. LIke the book, my heartbroke for him at the same points in the story.

As for the movies, I love NM more. The acting, make-up (except the wigs- what's the deal?), and special effects were great. I thought Rosenberg felt more comfortable with the script and began to understand the saga. I, personally, believe that "Twilight" was a shot in the dark per se. None of the people involved really understood the phenom and after realizing the strong fandom, they tried to make-up the mistakes in the first one.

Chris W so needs to re-do Twilight for us.
I loved the movie! It really brought the book to life, and I thought the way they did Edward was wonderful. I didn't get to hear my favorite line, "It was the worst kind of blasphemy," and I really wanted the epiphany to be emphasized more, but all in all, it was darn near PERFECT!
Loved the ending. I want to see how they move that discussion into Eclipse.

Are we allowed to talk about the movie here now?
*peeks to the left and the right*
I won't give away too much then.
As a movie, I liked New Moon better than Twilight, although Twilight is still my favourite out of all four of the books.
The thing I liked is that the changes they made were cinematic-ally appropriate > the switches didn't do "damage" to any of the characters' formation or any of the vital plot points. Sticking too close to the book for those moments would have slowed it down a bit too much. They said "tua cantata", which made me happy. The ending - that will be a neat thing to discuss here. I heard someone comment as they left the theatre "man, that was depressing" and I thought "have you read the book - it's SUPPOSED to be!"
Who is directing Eclipse?

David Slade is directing Eclipse. The only other movie I know of that he has directed is 30 Days of Night. It was another vampire movie but on a totally different path. Very gory, more horror. My husband and I watched it one night and I wasn't that impressed but I don't know that it was the directing or if it was just the story line in general.

Ok, let's see if I can talk about the movie without giving anything away :)

I loved the ending. Thought it was great. Didn't like some of the Cullens' looks. Where is Alice's fashion sense? I liked that they mentioned Jasper's mood altering abilities. I liked the voting scene.

I'm just sooooo glad we don't have to wait a whole year for the next one!! Thank goodness it'll be out in June!!!

PARTY REPORT

*screams like a school girl and jumps up and down* I Won! I Won! I Won! Yes, I won the movie prop donated by Summit Entertainment for the Lexicon's event in Salt Lake City. It's actually not a prop, it's a costume item. This is not a spoiler because you've all read the book. In Volterra when Bella is running through the crowd to get to Edward, she's pushing and shoving her way through all the people gathering for the St. Marcus Day festival. Everyone is wearing red, especially red capes. In the movie, Bella shoves one girl in particular at the end of her run. That's the cape I have, the girl in the red shirt who got pushed. When I told my husband he acted like I had "won a major award." He so doesn't get it. Somethingblue said, "Do not use that as a Little Red Ridinghood Costume." Of course when got back to my folk's place and told them all about my day, my mother, who has not read the books, said, "Oh that would be perfect for Little Red Ridinghood." She was serious.

Nena and I decided Thursday night that we couldn't wait for the party Saturday morning so we went out in our jammies and attended the 3:00 am showing. Love2dream didn't want to wait either so she drove up to meet us. We all sat together and the theater just kept adding showings. It was packed even though it was the middle of the night. Love2dream came in her Dr. Carlise Cullen scrubs. She sells them and I'll post the link if anyone is interested. Thank goodness it was reserved seating. We were too tired to go out to breakfast so we just came home and crashed about 6:00 am.

Nena and I met up again this morning to go to the party. Thank goodness we did not get the snow storm that was supposed to dump on us. I brought some flat ghuttermates with me and took their picture inside the theater. After I got some of them uploaded I was aghast that bac and Una didn't make it into the picture. You guys were there, I promise!!! I had pictures of Vampman, Vampbard, Vampsiren, bac, Una, Spookybell, Twilight Mom, Oleander, LadyDi, Cullengirl, GAH! I know I'm forgetting someone. I was so grateful Sprtygal got us into the theater before everyone else because it was not reserved seating. I admit to feeling a little smug when we walked by the lady who had scolded us for trying to cut in line earlier when we were just trying to stay warm by pushing away from the door in the theater's vestibule. We got to help Alphie, Pel, and Somethingblue with set up and distribution so we also had reserved seats. I won the cape because I had traveled the farthest to attend and got to pick first! The movie was even better the second time. Our gift bags say, "FORKS New York has the Statue of Liberty, Paris has the Eiffel Tower, London has Big Ben. We have Edward Cullen. Any questions?" In them were a bookmark, pencil, tissues to dab your eyes when Bella tells Jacob she loves Edward more, a keychain, a Volturi calendar magnet, some advertising for upcoming Twilight events AND a NM necklace from Infinite Jewelery who designed Bella's ring.

After the movie, about 30 of us had reservations (organized by Nancy from Infinite Jewelery) for a Lexicon Luncheon at the The Lion House on Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake. The food was pretty good. Some kind of orange glazed chicken, veggies, new potatoes, and their famous rolls with honey butter. Dessert was chocolate cream cake. Alphie was hilarious and determined to bring the group together even though we were at separate tables. She made Pel get up and describe her whole red carpet experience at the Hollywood premiere, including how she accidentally got footage of RPatz's butt! Then she quizzed the group about what we liked and didn't like about the movie. We laughed and laughed! Oh my it was so much fun!

Acually, Nissanmama, I am so happy for all of you! Our showing was a blast with just the fifty of us. I can't imagine how wonderful it must have been for you!
Thanks for the wonderful post and the pics, and yell at Nena to post something, too.
By the way, the cape line was hilarious!
You rock!
Now go to bed.

NISSANMAMA! That sounds like so much fun. I am glad you shared with us. Eclipse comes out on my birthday next year. Maybe I can make it my birthday present to attend a Lexicon event!

Nima, excellent report. Glad to say I'm finally getting back to a normal routine. I've had Stupid Shiny Volvo Driver staying with me for the movie event. And after that Lion House lunch yesterday, Somethingblue, Sprtygal, and Fry (Sprty's other 1/2) (and all 3 Sprty jrs) came over and we talked for hours. It has been a fabulous weekend.

I am very pleased with the movie. They fixed all the things I didn't like about Twilight: the speed, the sparkle, the cheesy improvs (spider monkey and monkey man, uggh), and both Kristen and Rob's acting. And the plot changes (for cinemetography) worked and kept the tone of the books. I have 2 wishes, though. 1, that they had dressed Alice and Rosalie better and done better with Rosalie's hair (looked slutty to me), and 2, that we could have seen a little more between leaving Volterra and the vote. I feel like we didn't get a good feel for the emotions, the epiphany, etc.

Thanks, Lexicon, for an awesome event, and I can't wait to see it again (which isn't likely until after finals, cause I'm booked till then). And can't wait till they get some pictures up.

For all the times I've come to visit now, I still haven't met Fry. The next time I come, I really need to make an effort to go south. Variety made me these amazing New Moon magnets. They're like smooth stones, but you can see the pictures through them. Very cool! And anything is awesome wrapped in chocolate truffles! Variety and all the SLTA's made me feel so welcome. They are such generous ladies. It was a blast to meet SSVD too! She's got teens about the same age as mine. Bewitched...we're not alone!

Yea! Great review too. I'm glad you had a great time and kudos to winning the cape. Maybe someday, I'll get to go. I just hate flying.

I went to see New Moon on Saturday night with my hubby, daughter and her friend. I totally agree with all the praises that have been mentioned. So much better than Twilight. I hope he (Chris) can come back on board for Breaking Dawn. Which I hope they break into two movies.

A great thing happened that night. My daughter is a wolf girl. I even let her wear my I run with werewolves t-shirt. She wants her own now. This is the girl who wouldn't read the books but now she might. Afterwards we went to BK and I got my fan pack and a cup. The girls took my pictures of the wolf pack to put up in their lockers, so now I have to get another one. Such suffering I go through.

Fan, I saw 30 Days of Night too but I"m holding on to the hope for Eclipse because of one scene. When Josh Hartnett doesn't want to be a vampire and Melissa George (who plays his ex) sits outside and holds him while the sun comes up so he won't be alone when he dies. I thought it was great scene and it made me just want to hug him. So I think David can do the love/relationship scenes. I just hope they don't cut the tent scene, cause we all know that needs to happen.

I getting my daughter out of school early today and we are going to see it again at 2:30. Can't wait. I'm so happy, I'm send a hug to all my guttermates. {{{hugs}}}
