I will always prefer the e-ink for dedicated reading, but I have to say this is a very intriguing product. Just did a little reading around on it. It's based on the Android system, and it will get an update soon to upgrade the OS and add an app store. The only negative comments I've seen, which haven't been much, is that it might be somewhat sluggish? Nothing that a good firmware or software update can't fix.ringswraith wrote:It also looks like there's a Nook 2 coming out, with a full color (touch?) screen.
Congratulations on your new Nook. After setting up your B&N account and connecting to your WiFi, make sure you check your settings to ensure you are updated to at least version 1.5. If not, then stay connected to your WiFi until the version upgrade begins downloading automatically. It will take several minutes to complete, including some hard reboots, be patient.BlueStarEgo wrote:Just got my Nook today! I am COMPLETELY in love with it!
Corona - Thanks for the tip to turn off the WiFi. It does considerably extend the usage of the battery on a charge.corona wrote:Also, once you are set up and running, turn the WiFi off, setting it to Airplane mode; with the WiFi off you will see a little image of a plane in the upper right corner next to the clock. This will significantly extend the time between charges.
