Hey there!

Working, working, working through all the pre-promo stuff I have to do. Designed a flyer last night. Have to design a poster and a desk banner and create a book trailer, then I'm going to have to start trying to find some bookstores for signings. Don't want to do that. It's hard.

So far the response to the book is underwhelming. The special deal my publisher put up only got us five or six sales, and I don't know how many people will bother pre-ordering the Kindle version, even though it's up now too. I've only got six definites to my book launch so far. I was hoping a lot of friends would come out in support. I guess there's still plenty of time but it has me worried. I'll never make my quota at this rate.

Sarah - I've been meaning to watch BD2 again. Hopefully I'll have time sometime.

Hey all,

I didn't end up watching BD2, instead I read the Illustrated Guide which I haven't done in a while. It still amazes me that Stephenie took the time to come up with all the back stories for all the characters for us, it was so neat to re-read.

I've still been steadily working around the house, getting decor slowly put up and trying to keep it clean. We have another burst of 90 degree weather for a few days and then it should go back down into the 70s..I like the heat but it hasn't rained in weeks.

Lynne-oh no, I'm sorry! I liked your authors page so hopefully it gets more people to see your books.

Hey there!

My book has arrived. :D I picked up the copies from my publisher's place yesterday. I'm going to post a photo of me with them some time today. I didn't do it yesterday because I had the book trailer to post. It's here if you want to see it.

I think I'm making progress with all the things I have to do before the book is out, but boy, there's so much to do! I have brochures being printed at the moment, I've booked my book launch, I've done a Pinterest page and a page on my website. Still a lot more to do but I'll get there ... eventually!

Sarah - I was thinking about the guide the other day and all the wonderful stuff that was in it. Sometimes it inspires me to write fanfiction. I might write another one some day after all this is done.

Hey all,

Sorry for my absence but I've had some crazy girl drama going on..what is with weddings making us crazy? I'm in one in October which has been planned for a week day and the bride has been demanding I take additional time off for her bridal shower tea a few days beforehand..I tried to explain I don't get paid time off so I'd have to come later and she basically threw a fit. so that's been distracting the past few days!

It started raining today, making it feel like fall! We've had such a long stretch of warm dry weather I haven't even felt like I lived in Washington lately :P

Lynne-Maybe writing fan fiction could be relaxing? How goes it with the book?

Hey there!

I've had lots of trials and tribulations with the book this week. I now have four reviews on Goodreads for it. Two are good and two are bad. One of the bad ones is particularly nasty. The reviewer has said that my story is 'unrealistic and irresponsible' because my protagonist studies social work while having PTSD. She declares confidently that this would never happen.

But my social worker friend says otherwise! She manages the mental health of social workers in Queensland and says it's unrealistic for the reviewer to think that social workers don't suffer from PTSD. Most of them get it while doing the job! She says yes, my protagonist can study social work as long as her PTSD is being well managed. So now I have a vicious review that advises people to steer clear of my book and the reviewer is WRONG! I considered reporting the review but I don't think they'd take it down and if they did, this reviewer might turn nasty, as some people do on Goodreads. Hopefully, I'll get some more good reviews soon.

Today I've got my first book event with Once Confronted. I'm hoping I'll sell a few copies. We'll see how it goes.

Sarah - I'm sorry that your friend is turning into Bridezilla. I don't understand why some people act like that. When I and my friends all got married, we were considerate of each other and helpful. It makes no sense to treat people who are supposed to be your closest friends that way.

Hey all,

It was Labor Day here so we had a three day weekend, which was nice. We had Jason's cousins and their kids over for a barbeque and it was really fun. It's the last long weekend until Thanksgiving and I got a lot of work done around the house before everyone came over. We never had a house warming party and it was more fun for me to have people over when things were picked up.

Lynne-oh no! That's awful :/ I saw you had some encouraging comments on Facebook at least. Did you sell any copies at your book event

Hey there!

Things have continued to be rough in the review department. I now have four reviewers saying I'm the worst writer in the world. It's weird because I never received reviews this abusive for any of my other books and I think the writing in this one is better! Even one of the four star reviewers wrote a terrible review. I kept having to go back and check the rating to see if she really did give it four stars.

I assume that the people at Net Galley, where these reviews were obtained, must be harsh reviewers. It's the first time we've used them and I won't be encouraging my publisher to use them again.

Sarah - I hope you had a lovely long weekend. Yes, I sold six copies of Once Confronted at the book fair, so that was good. Other copies are starting to go out so hopefully I'll get some reviews from people who don't have sticks up their ... bums.

Hey all,

Not much going on here, just work and life. We went to the state fair over the weekend and it was a lot of fun..food, rides, and enjoying the fall sunshine.

In surprising news, my friend apologized which I didn't anticipate. I don't think our friendship will ever be the same but at least the wedding won't be as awkward.

Lynne-any progress with the book reviews? I saw on FB you're not able to do a signing due to a grumpy author :/ it's frustrating when people ruin it for everyone else.

Hey there!

I have received some nicer reviews so things are looking a little better. Certainly plenty of the people I know who have already bought a copy of the book have loved it so it doesn't seem that this book is hugely different from my previous ones. The crowd at Net Galley must just not like my style. It's still difficult to deal with, though and it makes life stressful.

Sarah - yes, that bookstore was so supportive of us and that person has now ruined it for the rest of us. It makes me really made. I'm glad your friend apologised. Hopefully the wedding will be a good experience. :)

Happy weekend!

I worked this morning, to help out my boss and make a bit of extra money...a few months back, I had an unfortunate incident involving my car, an angle, and a plastic fence  a few posts sadly fell when I backed into them at a slight angle and the client decided to finally bill us for it. My boss didn't make me pay for the entire thing because she's nice so helping out on a weekend clean now and then is always a nice gesture to make ;)

Work has been steady, the nights quiet. The weather is changing towards fall, more rain and clouds, but we had a beautiful summer so I can't complain!

Lynne-glad to see things are going better with the book! I'm so happy for you. I know you've had a rough go of it lately.
