You will love the books! and G-Faerie08 is very right in saying the more you read the better it gets! The way I look at it it took me several 100 pages to fall in love with the ullens and since the Sookie books are MUCH shorter it might take you a book or 2 to LOVE the characters!
That is definitely true..Because I didn't really fall in love with Eric until maybe the 3rd book..Same with Sookie..

As for Twilight..I read them so quickly, I don't think I really took the time to really digest the characters..except for Emmett maybe. He really stood out for me. Him and Jacob (once he turned into wolf-boy)

YAY...I have internet again! I've been missing the Lex!!!

I found I was hooked on the Sookie books, just as quickly as the Twilight Saga(except New Moon). After a few pages, that was it...I couldn't put them down!
I'm pretty bad like that with books, when I get into one....I finish it in a few hours. My husband hates it. LOL

I totally agree! Pam was supposed to be young! But they've aged Eric, Bill & Sam in the show too IMO. I can't say I like them changing things! Especially when it's major character's & especially ones I really like!

Oh Mandy, yeah...Alcide is hot! I cant wait to see who plays him! Hopefully someone good!
You got any preferences? Anyone your hoping they'll pick?

Maybe Eric Bana as Alcide? http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e333/ ... ana_14.jpg

He's got a nice physique and I picture him as this kind of, man's man with a slight rugged exterior and I think Eric Bana can pull that off really well..On another board, someone said Jeffrey Dean Morgan, but I think he may be just a tad too old..

AND OMG!! I just thought of a possible PERFECT casting for Quinn....BILLY ZANE http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/ ... P/zane.jpg

Eric Bana...Mmmm....Now, as a Aussie myself, Eric is just BLOODY GORGEOUS, and NO! I'm not biased! LOL
I thought of Eric for Alcide too. I pictured him rugged, with a nice jaw & strong features....
But again....there's the age thing! And the fact he wouldn't do a TV show. :|
But I think he's hot all the same! I love the rugged manlyness! G- Have you seen him in CHOPPER? It's a must see. He don't look so hot in it though!

Billy Zane was good when he was younger....but now, I'm not likin' him as much.

No I haven't seen Chopper but now I want to lol..And I agree with the whole Billy Zane thing..He is a lil too old..I think maybe Shemar Moore may be a decent choice..I am trying to think of some really hot guys that are nice and buff and would look good with a bald head...Of course, they don't necessarily have to follow directly with the books as they have changed so much already.

I honestly don't have anyone in mind to play Alcide, because in the books he's described as so tall and buff and manly, I just don't see many male actors that could fit that. And I agree with Candi about Eric Bana probably not willing to do a TV series since he's done some big movies. Oh well.

I'm sorry, but EWW to Billy Zane as Quinn! He's got the bald head, and that's pretty much where the physical resemblance ends. Once again, Quinn is described as very tall and buff, which will be pretty hard to cast.

I'm sure it will be hard for them to stick with the book descriptions for these guys, but a girl can dream, right? :? And they both don't make their appearance until after the 3rd book so HBO and Alan Ball have time to find the [nearly] perfect actors to play them. Don't let us down!

Alcide isn't a BIG character like say Eric or Sam...so I don't see a problem with Eric Bana taping a couple of episodes here and there like other primarily movie actors doing guest spots on other television shows and such. Its funny how I am all like, "Eric can do it..blah blah blah." when I have no control whatsoever with casting lol. A girl can dream though..

*Spoilerers*

So is Tarah in the books at all? I am on Ch 5-6 of the first book and I have watched all of the 1st season of the show. I like Bill better in the books but still I prefer Sam and Eric over Bill in the books and on the show. Bill on the show is so blah and even in the books he is only so/so. I really love Sookie in the books though. She is so much fun. I loved Gran too. My last thought for now is WOW the show is so much more sex crazy than the first book. Good grief. I feel like I need to watch it alone. I mean I am not one you would consider prudish and the show almost makes me blush when I watch it with my husband  I still like it though.

Tara is in the books, but she does not have NEARLY as much part of storyline as she does on the show. Seriously..I'm not even one-hundred percent sure if the Tara on the show is the same as the one in the books..because really, the only similarity that I have taken note of was that they had difficult childhoods.

And I totally feel the same way about watching the show alone..it is like only one step away from being porn  My mom asked me about it when it premiered, to deter her away from watching it, I was like, "Uhhhh :? Its just a bunch of dumb vampire stuff...you wouldn't like it.."

lol I would be mortified to tell my mom to watch it. I had a similar experience when going to see Watchmen. My dad kind of invited him self to come along to the movie. Thankfully he bailed last minute. I loved the graphic novel but that would have been terribly awkward.

Also, my Husband likes the show (he is up to like episode 3) but every time they show Jason with some chic he rolls his eyes and either says Jason is gay or something to the effect of is all of this really necessary. It's pretty funny really
