I agree with what everyone else said, never pictured him to be Black.
Vampire paleness makes it weird though, but the other actors arent as pale as I'd imaged them to be so that works.

I think they did a great job casting him though, I love watching him in the trailers.
It makes me sad that he's going to die. He seems so like-able in this movie,
I love the accent.

I think it's great that he seems so nice... because you have to believe that he would see vampires tracking down Bella to be wrong for him to help the Cullen's out and then go to the Alaska vamps...and then come back and decide being nice isn't worth it. Hahaha.

He's going ot have an awesome death scene. :)

I agree with the whole olive/black thing. No racism intended at all, but of course, the movies have to be politically correct... :D

I never thought of him as black, but I love Edi and he plays it perfect, so there's no problem there for me! :)

I wondering about the whole politically correct thing. Even if Edi wasn't in the movie at all, that doesn't mean it doesn't appeal to different races (just my opinion).

So by your use of politically correct, do you mean to have actors of every race in the film? If so that's just not possible.

I feel that Cathrine, thought that Edi was good enough to portray Laurent and she cast him no matter his skin color.

Even though there is a black guy in the film, I don't think that it will bring more blacks to see the film. Just like there is the Native American population represented in the books doesn't mean they will flock to see the film either.

I think that Edi was picked because he was the best one to suite the role, no matter what his skin color is compared to how SM described him in the books.

Yeah, as many people have said, I definitely did not imagine Laurent to be black (no racism intended!).
But i imagined him with pale skin (of course), black hair, red eyes, and for some reaosn i always pictured him wearing a white long sleeve shirt with a black vest overtop. Don't know why.
But yeah, with his accent, and from what I've seen from the trailers and teasers, I think he'll do a good job.

So I'm clearly not the only one who did not picture Laurent black, (no racism intended!) but he did a really good job with Laurent, in my opinnion. He had a really cool accent, too! :D

I loved Edi portrayal of Laurent! And that interview when he improvs the line about baseball:
Peter/Carlise: So do you play baseball?
Edi/Laurent: Does a baby eat candy?
Peter/Carlise: What?
Edi/Laurent: I mean, does a baby taste like candy?
Peter/Carlise: <shakes head, walks away>
Way to represent Edi!
