G'Day
I'll begin by answering the suggested questions:
How did you pick your screen name? My screen name is the same everywhere I go. Googling it will reveal that I run my own website dedicated to heavy metal, moderate a board here and there, I am a music journalist, website designer, and pharmacist (quite obvious that part I should think).
How did you come to read Twilight and which book is your favorite? I've not read any novels for quite a while, other than the first Dexter book when the TV series came out here, and the Underbelly and Chopper sets (Australian crime novels, non-fiction). My wife, on the other hand, is a varocious reader, and when she picked up these, I was very intrigued by what she described.
I'm a big fan of vampires, and I'm a big fan of originality, especially someone taking an existing device and changing it in a new and interesting way. Obviously, Stephenie's treatment of vampires fits into this category.
I've just finished Breaking Dawn, and have been soaking up all the bonus material available on Stepheniemeyer.com and here, while always looking for more.
At this point, I pretty much like all of the books, and Midnight Sun was very very interesting, again for the original concept.
Who do you like best: Edward, Bella, or Jacob? Bella, I identify with her the most, even though I'm not a chick. It is fitting that she is the most human character personality-wise, not just in the obvious way. I can understand her self-doubt, lack of confidence in certain situations, and willingness to put others first (even though I only do this with my direct family).
I also understand how she felt in New Moon when Edward left - I had a similar feeling when I finished Breaking Dawn, once I realised there was nothing new for me to know about these characters.
Who is your favorite minor character? I can honestly say there is not a character in the book that I did not like, because they are all very realistic and genuine. Yes I am saying the vampires are realistic, because the protrayal of someone who is invulnerable, invincible, and enigmatic seems to ring true.
So, to answer the question, Seth . . . . (I don't see the Cullen's as minor characters).
What are your hobbies? Music journalist and web design. I cannot live without music, and there is not much time of the day (outside of sleep, work, and family time), that I don't have my iPod wearing out its warranty. I class music journalism and web design as hobbies becuase I don't make money from it (sometimes it breaks even, but rarely), and I enjoy it even when it weighs me down with deadlines etc.
Where are you from (general area like Montana, not exact town!) Australia
How old are you? My thirtieth circuit around Sol begins this year . . . .
Anything else you would like to share. I am, in fact, a male fan of the series. Not only that, as indicated, I am approaching middle age, have long been out of school, have long been in a very satisfying relationship with my wife, have kids, and am gainfully employed as a pharmacist. I guess this means I don't fill many of the check-boxes for a stereotypical Twilight Saga fan.
I do also like a few other things to the level of obsession - heavy metal, Metallica, Buffy (although I don't expect to talk about that here - the mythology is as different oranges and apple computers), other Whedonesque output (Firefly being the main one there), tattoos, and avoiding direct human contact (other than my family) outside of work.
One thing I am currently doing for my own enjoyment is making my own "complete" sage. Even though we own all the books, I've just purchased the electronic E-Books, and I'm going to splice in all of the "extras" such as the casino scene found here, the excerpts from stepheniemeyer.com, the photos from her site, etc etc etc into a nice long electronic version of the story. My one hope is that she keeps writing it, so that I'll never be finished compiling it.
Very soon, I intend o start re-reading the series, one chapter per day, so it lasts (for the record, I started Twilight on Boxing Day, and finished Breaking Dawn this week). I saw the movie twice when it was released here, but I have yet to see it since reading the books.
So, hope that's not too long to read . . . . . .
