The only thing I can figure is that the scene, lasting only seconds, was just too significant, showing Bella's commitment to Edward too clearly, and they didn't want to mess up the love-triangle business. Okay, I can grit my teeth on that and move on. But what about the "I left you bleeding" and "he stitched you up" scene? I can't remember now, did any of that get in? What's the point of cutting that when you're near the end of the movie? Did they wanted to drag out the whole triangle thing out for a few more minutes? For Pete's sake, their lives are about to put at risk in just a few seconds, why not show Edward at one of his most noble moments? I don't get it, it's almost like they're trying to sabotage him.
Yes, those two scenes were leaked earlier this week ahead of the DVD release. In the extended edition, after Bella gets out of the Truck, Edward follows her to the bottom of the front steps and says almost the exact line that he says in the book. "I want you to be happy. I'll understand if you're too angry with me to come to your room tonight. Just keep the window closed." Bella kind of rolls her eyes and heads inside. Then we flash to her standing in front of her window, where she checks the lock. She turns, stopping and thinking for a moment and you see a change come across her face. It visibly softens and relaxes as she turns, unlocks the window and opens it. I, honestly, can't see the "it messes up the triangle we have to think Jacob has a chance angle." As I said, to me, what that scene always signified was that at least a part of Bella always understood the depth of Edward's love for her and his need to protect her and that she forgave him his overprotectiveness.

I completely agree with you as to why they left out the "I left you bleeding" dialogue. It does show Edward at his most selfless, his most loving and understanding. It makes Jacob really and truly appear, for the first time, as manipulative and immature as he can be. So, given MR's total TeamJacob leaning, it's not surprising that they left it out. The problem is, that they also left out a key piece in understanding just why Edward & Bella work the way they do, love the way they do. His only and ever concern is for her happiness and safety. There is NOTHING more demonstrative of that than his willingness to walk away and let her have her happiness with Jacob, if that's what she wants. To me, it is truly the moment when the whole puzzle comes together for Bella .

Again, I suppose, at this point, my larger concern is what leaving these key scenes out of Eclipse portends for Breaking Dawn... :?

With Bill's photo out, at least we now know that we'll get feathers, at least.

If Bill is going to post pictures like that all year, I'm going to need a place in a mental institute. Seriously it will drive me crazy...
I love the feathers but come on!!! we need so much more than that...

Sorry back to the deleted scenes. I just HATE how Summit is/was focusing more on the "love triangle" in these movies. And trying not to show I guess Edward & Bella's devotion to each other. Those 2 scenes we've talked about are a great example of that. And especially on Edward's side how he would do whatever Bella wanted, whatever made her happy. And the whole choice thing. I like how Bella puts it in the book that it really wasn't choice it was more like Emily & Sam. They kind of touched on that w/Bella's last "speech" in the meadow but not enough in my opinion. Let's just hope now that the choice, love triangle whatever you want to call it is over with in BD we'll get back to the important parts of the story = Bella & Edward.

I for one loved the photo & thought it was just enough. It's enough to give us a taste of what's coming but not too much to ruin it. And it shows that BC REALLY knows what the fans want & are expecting in the final 2 movies. It made me happy & fangirly for probably the rest of the day.

Penny, can you honestly say that you will stay sane if only pictures like these will be released?
I sure can't...I love the taste full approach of Bill, but honestly after being through that with Eclipse, I know where my limits are...and they will be reached somewhere in the summer, if pictures keep showing only arms or hands...

Sorry but this so made me laugh out loud. I think I scared some of my coworkers, to be honest. Twilight and porn in the same post, let alone same sentence is just a giggle and a half. Here most of us are, worried that all we'll get is fade to black and maybe some hot n heavy necking (pun fully intended). The reality is that there is a total happy medium here. They (the production team ie Wyck Godfrey, Bill Condon and SM) just have to make up there minds on how to do it. IMO, the love scenes in Remember Me are the perfect example. RM is rated PG-13. The love scenes, particularly the first one were very well done; tasteful, simple and very moving. At the same time, they were beautifully erotic and I think that is what everyone wants. This is a film and film is a visual media, plain and simple. The reality is, after three years of build up, we expect a bit of a payoff. Absolutely, I don't want the XXX celebrity sex tape version of the honeymoon. That would just be wrong. But, I would like something that shows me the love and absolute devotion they have to each other, the passion that exixts when these two are simply in the same room together, let alone, finally together with nothing between them but the night and the Caribbean breezes.

Speak for yourself...I'm so looking forward to some Vampire porn...we need new inspiration for writing smut...

But all the joking (a small part really wishes for it) aside...I agree with you Caryn, even sex scenes (or bloody birthscenes) can be done tastefully...I don't know if any of you have ever seen the mists of Avalon, in the movie there is a scene, in where Morgain and Arthur are participating in the fertility rites, the scene has been done beautifully and with the right music playing along, it was almost good porn...
What I mean to say is that if everything comes perfectly together, shot, music and chemistry the scene will look hot no matter what...

Kind of ironic, isn’t it? The “fade to black” scenes on the honeymoon are the ones most anticipated by fans to actually see on film, while the rawest sex (mostly implied, yes I know) in the cottage that starts with them tearing off each other’s clothes is probably too hot to actually film.

TwilightRocksMyWorld. I wouldn’t be too worried about the gore at the delivery. Some of the stuff simply has to be in there, but I think everyone would be pretty stunned if the goriest parts are actually filmed. I don’t think we’ll actually see Edward chew Renesmee out. There have already been hints that some of the stuff will not actually be put on film, and if anything qualifies, that would be it. But I don’t think you can escape Bella vomiting the blood (which starts the whole scene) or Rosalie being transfixed by the spray of blood following the incision, since that leads directly to Jacob forcibly ejecting her from the room kung fu style.
"It will take an amazing amount of control,” she mused. “More even than Carlisle has. He may be just strong enough…the only thing he’s not strong enough to do is stay away from her. That’s a lost cause.”
