Granted, Ferrari will look bad if Kristen Stewart got injured/burned in a 458 combusting on set, or even just her being in the car when it errupts will not do their publicity any favors at all.
One thing you can count on is that if there's any genuine danger involved for a star in shooting a particular movie scene, they'll use a double. The reason: studios and production companies need to buy insurance for a film production, and the insurers always review the script for shots that might create risks of injury to a film's star, especially if the star is considered essential to the film (and at this state, Kristen probably is). So you can figure that if there's any actual danger in driving the Ferrari, it will be a double behind the wheel.

Edward Jay Epstein has a couple of sections of his book, The Hollywood Economist, on this subject. Quite interesting.

Not saying it was dangerous as far as just driving it--Ashley drove the Porsche 911 in New Moon. I was saying that the Ferrari 458's have been recalled by Ferrari due to the car's bodywork potentially catching fire due to a certian type of adhesive used on it. Only 6 have been damaged or destroyed, but Ferrari knows that people who buy their cars don't want to see their "investment" go up in smoke. May as well set a big pile of money on fire!

Just saying that if Summit gets a deal with Ferrari, they'll probably goad Summit into using a 458 if one's available for the shoot. I don't think that Kristen will have trouble with the Ferrari as far as driving as long as she gets a hang of the F-1/Le Mans inspired paddle operated SMG gearbox (I don't think that Kristen has much experience with a stick), and she'll likely only be driving it on set.

Kristen does most of her own stunts, but I do feel that anything above casual driving is above her, so she and the director/producers will get an expirenced performance driver or maybe Kristen, being how she is, might take performance driving classes, but considering that she's still scared of normal driving to an extent, she might call limitations on that.

And having a 458 destroy itself on the set of BD--Kristen in it or near it or not--can't do Ferrari any favors. Just having the car burn to the ground on set just sitting and idling would prompt the unreliable Italian car jokes that Fiat(majority owner of Ferrari), Lancia and Alfa Romeo used to be the butt of.

I think that they'll find a way to make it okay.

But, I just had another thought, if they're going to cast everyone are they going to show us what was all going on with Research and the vampires hearing about it in alternate ways.

I have a lot of technical concerns about the movie, but most are obvious and will likely be addressed by the professionals in charge of this project. Things like the scenes of intimacy between Bella and Edward, the birthing scene, and the depiction of the final showdown will require capable hands at the helm, but my primary concerns have more to do with the problems in “selling” certain fundamental aspects of the story. I guess I have more concerns about what is going to be put in than left out, and this has more to do with the adaption of the novel to the big screen rather than the novel itself.

1. Jacob imprinting on Renesmee. I don’t know how they are going to pull this off. As mentioned before, definitely play up the “protector” aspect of it, as that is about the only possible angle I can see that might be accepted by enough of the audience that this doesn’t become an “issue”. My gut instinct is to emphasize Jacob’s initial reaction to Renesmee, which was murderous, so that the audience thinks “Oh no! He’s going to kill the baby? Oh my God! Someone stop him! What’s that? Jacob imprinted on her? Huh, don’t know what that is all about, but thank God, that was a close one, whew!”. On the other hand, while that might sell the imprinting a bit better, a lot of us breeze through that part of the chapter (I know that I do) and don’t think a lot about it, because no one actually believes Jacob is going to attack and kill the child. Portraying this in the movie will be very difficult though, because Jacob is going to be onscreen actually preparing himself to commit infanticide. Jacob is prepared to kill Bella’s child, the one he just helped deliver. He then falls in love with Bella’s child, the one he just helped deliver. Granted that imprinting isn’t exactly like falling in love, I get that, but 100% of the imprints eventually get romantically involved anyway with the sole possible exception of Quil (although that is likely going to happen also). Even SM implies that both Jacob and Nessie are “good to go”. Taylor has his work cut out for him.

I fully accept the canon of the Twilight saga and have no problem as an avid fan, but I fear the movie audience is not going to be so accepting. If I was writing the screenplay I would be sorely tempted to just write this part out, but there is just no way to do it because Jacob’s imprinting is critical to the plot.

For me, I think the best cutoff between the two movies is somewhere during Bella’s transformation, but that places the ending of Part 1 after the imprinting. I’m placing odds, however, that the screenplay for Part 1 will kick the can down the road and wait until Part 2 to bring up the imprinting.

2. Bella as Vampire. Even SM says she had a disconnect with Bella once she is changed. On top of that, we now have the visual of Bella with her vivid red eyes for the ENTIRE Part 2 of the movie. I have a real fear that the movie audience is going to lose their connection with Bella. I have a couple of suggestions to the studio that may or may not work: a) keep the focus on Edward and Bella and their relationship (get back to basics), and b) make sure that Kristen is always looking absolutely spectacular. Never have so many millions of dollars ridden on the basic makeup for a single actor. Oh, and a third, c) make Kristen look as cruddy as you can during the pregnancy, you have to get everyone’s minds off of how fantastic she looked during the wedding. Bella as vampire needs to appear as a definite improvement and you are happy for her. And one more thing, d) make sure J. Jenks is in the movie, this is Bella’s only shot appearing in front of humans outside of her family, you can really have some fun with this.

3. Renesmee. I don’t have any technical concerns about how this is done. The biggest pitfall is much more subtle. Audiences typically do not respond well to portrayals of children as “super special” and overly precocious, especially if they arrive late in the game. This is hard to define, but they are definitely a turn-off. Maybe it’s because it looks so Hollywood phony, or desperate, or exploitative, or that parents, especially, do not like the suggestion that the child onscreen is more special that anyone else’s. Dakota Fanning in “I am Sam” is a good example of how to do this right and not overdo it, and she is there right at the beginning. There are many other examples, however, where the new kid is brought in and the focus of the show starts revolving around them, and they always seem to be just a bit too precious and precocious. And then the series gets cancelled (e.g., see Partridge Family, Brady Bunch, Family Ties, Different Strokes, etc.).

Keep the focus on Bella and Edward, and make the final showdown an issue of battling for their child, not “super special” Renesmee. A little bit of soft-pedaling Nessie will help a lot. Take too much “child” out of the child, and I think it’s going to be a big loser.

Ok, I understand that I'm new here, but y'all will get used to my being very opinionated. So, I feel the need to get off my chest my worries about this movie. First off, I'm worried about all of the things that have been left out of previous movies that are important to understand in BD, especially the Denali's, Quil's imprinting on a 2 year old, Laurent's association with Irina & Jacob's running away. Portraying these issues in BD correctly may be difficult. I'm also worried about just how certain things will play out. For instance, Bella's & Renesmee's power. How to accurate show that so people who have not read the books will understand may be difficult. I know that it is impossible for movies to be spot on with the books 100%, however, I feel they should be similar. This can be done and after the previous movies, I'm scared. Don't get me wrong, I thought Eclipse was the best movie out of the three and it's also my favorite book, I just wish it would have flowed better & stuck to the book more. Some things were left out that seriously should not have been and events did not flow in correct order. With the same screenwriter doing BD as well, I have a feeling that this will happen again. I will most definitely be at the theater opening night to see the movie, but I have to admit, I'm not as excited about it as I was with Eclipse. I've already heard an interview with SM where she states that Jacob's POV is not as defined in the movie as it is in the book and this upsets me. A lot happened from his side that I would think would be more interesting than just watching it from Bella's place stuck on a couch. Does that make sense? I could go on and on with this subject, but I'm gonna stop for now!

Hey first welcome, every opinion is welcome
I'm sure you have read some of our posts, and as you mat have figured out we were all ready to fire MR (scriptwriter) after Twilight...because we all think she's a bit starstruck by Jacob/Taylor...and makes him the hero except Bella is the actuall Hero( Heroin)...Yes she did a lot better with NM and Eclipse but still we are all praying that Stephenie and Bill can keep her in check...

Yes this is something they have to adress as well, I'd rather that they did it in the previous movies but they do have almost 4 hours to fill I'm sure they will find a spot for everything...

Accoriding to MR the whole movie won't be made from one pov..but rather like Eclipse, where we got to see the wolves and the Cullens fight without Bella ever being there...they will pull away from the pov thing...but I'm guessing that Jake and Bella are getting to do voice overs...
don't worry about the Jacob parts, MR practically adores him, he'll get his say...

Corona~ First, welcome to the Lex. It's a happy little place! Quite frankly, that statement by SM really and truly bothered me. She went on to say that that was a part of the motivation for including Renesme in the story, to allow greater relatability to Bella after she was changed. It bothered me mostly because, to me at least, I never had an issue relating to Bella after her change. I completely understood the decision she made, her motivations for doing it. Love that intense, a connection that foundational and deep justifies a lot of behavior that might otherwise be a little odd. Or, as Buffy says, "Love makes you do the crazy." That I totally get. But, in a way, I never really understood why Bella wanted to risk everything for an unknown. Don't get me wrong. I have two munchkins of my own. I know that feeling, that all consuming love and willingness to endure anything for them. Her total about face about everything just seemed a little odd to me. In my opinion, it somewhat lessened the importance of the love betwen Bella and Edward. Portraying that in the film is going to be odd.

I felt like that weakened the strength of Bella and Edward's love as well. I felt disconnected with Bella once she got pregnant, not because of her becoming a vampire. I have daydreamed on numerous occasions about becoming a vampire, so that was not hard to relate to. Ha ha.

I think I felt disconnected with her because I was mad at her and completely at a loss of who she was. Edward was supposed to be the most important thing in her life, she could not live without him. And then as she was transforming she almost let herself die because out of nowhere, Edward was not enough. I was infuriated. It wasn't the Bella I thought I knew. The love story is what draws me into the books so much, and she tarnished it in my mind. Edward not being enough (but for some reason, Renesme was) just through me for a loop. And then the rest of the book, I felt like Edward was hardly in the picture. It was all about Renesme in Bella's mind. She could tolerate Edward being buzzed by Kate, not Renesme, she could tolerate Edward dying in the fight with the volturi, but not Renesme. Agh, I am going to make myself mad.

Anyways, to wrap up that little tangent. For me, Stephenie's solution to making Bella relate-able once again made it so I could not relate to her anymore. She became a new person, her priorities shifted. It felt like a new story to me. It wasn't about Edward and Bella anymore (which in my mind, it always was, along with various other people in Bella's life). I mean there were three whole books leading up to them finally being together! And all of a sudden, she switches focus. I had a hard time grasping it.

I guess I was a little shocked too about Bella. Jacob called Edward “the burning man” throughout the pregnancy, and this look on his face always caused Bella the most pain before, but she seemed indifferent to it.

Regardless, I could still accept her reasons and faith that everything would turn out all right as long as after the delivery the focus was on their child and their family and Bella and Edward’s love for each other. But the focus changes to the child, and not just any child but super special Renesmee, who now takes center stage. I’m sorry, but I just do not relate to her. I have no animosity for her personally, but I don’t know her from Adam. And that I think is maybe getting closer to the nub of my concerns. The focus changes to a child that I am not relating to. I relate to Bella and I relate to Edward and I relate to their relationship and their family and their love for each other and their love for their child. I do not have a connection with Renesmee as her own entity. And when Edward starts fading into the background in order to make room for her up front, I start getting a little resentful and start losing some of my connection with Bella. I find it ironic that SM suggested that one of the reasons for bringing Renesmee into the story was to somehow maintain the connection with Bella’s character.

If I was a vampire and I was standing with the Cullens, I would fight the Volturi, but I would do it for Bella and Edward and their love and their child born under extraordinary circumstances. I would be fighting for their family. I would not be fighting specifically for Renesmee, but that is the way the scene seems to unfold and the motivation for many of the other allies there.

By the way, I found out the name of what I was trying to describe earlier about children coming into a series late in the game, it’s called the “Cousin Oliver Syndrome”, derived from the Brady Bunch in their last season. Producers start looking for some fresh material. They decide to bring in a new character in the form of a child (typically precious, precocious, bratty, or some combination thereof). The audience is first confused, then angry, and then they tune out. Series is cancelled.

I know what you guys mean about after Renesmee being born it took away from the Edward/Bella relationship. Edward was always in the background! That kind of bugs me too. I actually love Renesmee. I just wish that she had come along later. After Bella & Edward had some time together, just the two of them, after finally being together & married.

Maybe I'm the only one but I have a really hard time picturing Kristen as the Bella of BD. Ever since TW I've had a hard time. I think she did great in NM and EC but for some reason I just have a hard time picturing her. (Maybe I'm confusing the Kristen I have come to "know" through interviews & stuff with the character Bella.) I just really hope that everyone (especially the big 3) can pull it off.

My biggest worry is Jacob imprinting. It barely got a mention. It wasn't explained well at all. And the Denali coven. Hopefully since they are splitting it in 2 movies that means we'll ge some good explanations/background on these.
