Nima, I've been here and chatted with you for how long?? And I just now know what those stand for! I feel like a dork - and I never wanted to look dumb and ask where you came up with the initials for your kids! Thank you!! Mystery is solved! :D

Even with the porn-stache I thought Billy Burke was fantastic as Charlie. He stole my heart! I think that is what I missed most, because of the time crunch of the film, we missed the slow falling in love pace of the book. I felt their love was a bit rushed but, again, you can only fit 500 pages into so much time.

Welcome stupid_lamb85, glad you've found our guttery.. err lovely little haven!

I say we also do a Team Billy as well... I also found him quite hawt

Bewitched, I would highly recommend to read them in order. I think you may be able to go ahead and skip one book and keep the flow alright but I feel like you are going to miss out on how things are played and will be definitely confused when characters are mentioned or make appearances and their behavior is not explained because the information was already given in a previous book. Do you do online shopping? have you tried Amazon.com or half.com?

Nena, I was just doing some research on Italian cooking, and I think you're on to something. For most of their salads they use panchetta rather than bacon, so it's likely that is, in fact, what it was. Thank you for bringing that to our attention.

I am all for a Team Billy/Charlie. He was so lovable on film. I always liked him in the books, but now I love him. Initially I was for casting JFM, but I doubt anyone could have brought Charlie to life quite as well as Billy Burke did. Pornstache... *grins*

Can I also just say James... WOW! I did not picture him being so ... totally hunkish... in the books. It was hard for me to even feel bad for Bella during the ballet scene. I would have been begging him to bite me! I actually rented one of Cam's movies that came out this year, Never Back Down, and really liked that too. He's definitely got the bad guy role down pat. I was very impressed with him as an actor. I couldn't believe they only had him for 3 weeks, and everything came out so well!

Well, I'm almost done with book one of BDB. I finally understand the Peach Cobbler, WOAH! Talk about some major blushing going on while reading that part. My husband was sitting on the couch watching TV while I'm reading this, and was wondering what was making me giggle so much. He picks up the book later while I'm on the computer, and all I hear across the house is "What kind of smut are you reading?" Haha.. it provided us with some good laughs for the evening.

I love him too. Nima had a fabulous picture of his hip dents (he's what got me hooked) and I've been in love with him ever since. Too bad he's so young. Well I can dream can't I? I told my hubby that I wanted the cut out of him from hot topic.

Thanks Nena. I guess I'll just have to order them. Probably better that way anyhow, not as many library fines. I've ordered so many books this past year, they probably have a space on the hold shelf with my name plate on it. :D

I have to be on board with the Sookie and Dark Hunter series. I've got so many series going on at the moment that I can't keep track of which to read first.

I third the Team Billy and Team Charlie threads! I thought Mike Welch was adorable as our Mike Newton. Is there a Team Mike thread out there?! :o  Yes, you don't need to get your eyes checked. I really asked if there is a Mike Thread.

Bewitched: I'm the same way at my library. I swear those ladies at the circulation desk shake their head everytime I check out 5 books at a time. I've stopped renting movies from Blockbuster and get it from the library. It's basically my one stop shop!

Ambroisa- LOL, that was a great moment!

I feel the same way you do dear! I have currently 65 books on my "holding" list and 11 books on my requested list. In some ways, they should have an acknowledgment for those that really make use of the library. Goodness, most of the time, I return my book within a week even though you check them out for three weeks! They either think I don't read them or that I really am a power reader! I wonder if they could give out an award for the person that checks out the most books in a year....I wonder if I am in the running!

Ambrosia don't feel bad. My hubby shakes his head at me and says, "You and those vampire books." Course, he'd never have me stop reading...they do keep the hearth fires burning. I did get a book from the library yesterday and I'm returning it today. It's a book by an author I like, but it's law enforcement guys romance... I started to read it and didn't like it. It's official, I need paranormal in my romance. That just proves I'm more/better than normal, right? ;)

I just recently read BDB... My hubby also calls it vampire smut. I read some select pieces to him. He actually got a kick out of it! I think it was Inspired that coined the phrase "Happy Wife Syndrome"

Speaking of Library Holds - I just picked up my latest - The Host (SM) (I actally haven't read yet). I need to finish the BDB Insider's Guide, then I'll read that. AND I received my P/C order from amazon - still in the box!! Unfortunately, my library does not carry paranormal romances. GRRR!

CG - I loved Mike as Mike in the movie - he was adorable. He didn't seem like a total jerk.

Nena, thanks for posting CH's answer to the missing blood-typing scene. It puts it more into perspective now (although i still miss it).

I wonder if those of us who have read the partial manuscript for Midnight Sun are more accepting of Edward's behaviour in the biology scene. I had no problem with his reaction because i remembered his reaction in MS.

I am totally on Team Charlie and his pornstache. What a great word!! Mind if i borrow it?

I'm off to see it for the 4th time in half an hour. I should really stay home and finish my art journal for my finals tomorrow, but Twilight calls. ;) I'll just have to pull a late night.

oh...but i'm really caught up in Butch's story right now...i can't neglect poor Butch...what do i do?? ;)

I think there's a lot of us that feel that way. I never got into anything paranormal until I read Twilight, and now I can't get enough! They're just plain better. Instead of only romance, you get all that extra.

The only Vamp series that I've read that I haven't particularly cared for so far was the Vampire Diaries. Someone recommended them to me, but they just felt much too YA. I know Twilight is YA, but it doesn't feel like it for some reason. I feel like it's a story that transcends that age gap. The Blue Bloods were the only other YA that I was interested in.

I just got into the first Sookie Stackhouse, and I actually really like that. BDB has taken a front seat in my current stack of books though. The first 100 pages were ehhh, but after that it's like I can't put the darn thing down. Good think I picked up 1 and 2 from the bookstore.

I see a lot of people are reading Dark Hunter. How many are in that series? Are they any good? My husband is just going to have to continue to deal with my vamp lore addiction.

Ambrosia there are so many great paranormal romances out there. I know there are several series that the group here enjoy (some are YA). I've read the Vampire Kisses series and it is very much a younger YA, but I know what you mean. The non-paranormal romances/stories I enjoy so far are only the ones by Jennifer Cruise and Jennifer Wenier. Other than that, it seems for the fantasy romance story to be believable, it must take place in an alternate universe for me. Man, does that sound weird or what?!!?

Here is a recapped list (and please feel free to add):
  • Dark Hunter - Sherrilon Kenyon
    Psy/Changling - Nalini Singh
Black Dagger Brotherhood - J.R. Ward
    Mortal Instruments - Cassandra Clare
    Vampire Academy - Richelle Mead
House of Night - P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast
Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire Mysteries - Charlaine Harris
    Midnight Breed - Lara Adrian
Mercy Thompson Series - Patricia Briggs
Lords of the Underworld - Gena Showalter
Alpha and Omega Series - Patricia Briggs
There are also a couple other series that I have discovered through short stories (I read a lot of anthologies that have novellas that are excerpt from the various authors current series) but I won't post them unless I (or someone else) recommends them. Many of us here on the Lex have accounts on Shelfari. Feel free to check it out, it's a great way to share book recommendations and keep track of them.
