1. Alice tells Bella that the family will do what it takes to protect her because no one wants to look at Edward for the next century should Bella die. How do you feel about this line now that you have read New Moon and know exactly how Edward would react were Bella ever to die?Well after reading NM the family is justified in being worried what would happen to Edward if Bella were to ever die. But I don't think anyone could have seen the extremes he would take.

2. Jasper talks more in this chapter than any other chapter. What things do we learn about his character from the way he reacts to Bella? Were you ever afraid of him during this chapter? I wasn't afraid of him at all. I loved getting to know him better and seeing how much he cares for his family & wants to make sure that everything will be okay for Bella, Edward, and the rest of the Cullens.

3. This is the first time we learn that the vampires are venomous. What was your reaction to this news and did it make you think twice about the fact that Edward had kissed Bella? It didn't surprise me they were venoumous. And it didn't make me think twice about them kissing. If it were dangerous for Bella Edward never would have kissed her.

4. Why do you suppose Edward has been so adamant about not telling Bella how someone becomes a vampire? I actually wasn't sure why. I thought it was weird that he was so adamant about it.

5. Alice has a vision of the dance studio and the proceeds to question Bella about any reasons why she might go there. It seems to me that Alice saw Bella at the studio. Why didn't Alice clear this up for Bella by explaining to her that she shouldn't go to the studio? It probably didn't make sense to Alice why she should go there. Mabye she didn't realize the real danger Bella was in?

a dead Edward is a bad Edward and nobody wants that so i think it's a pretty true statment

2. Jasper talks more in this chapter than any other chapter. What things do we learn about his character from the way he reacts to Bella? Were you ever afraid of him during this chapter?
i love love love jasper, he loves the family he's found with the cullens and alice and he'll do anything to keep and protect it

3. This is the first time we learn that the vampires are venomous. What was your reaction to this news and did it make you think twice about the fact that Edward had kissed Bella?
i figured they were cause how else would they change people, and no cause he'd have to bite her

4. Why do you suppose Edward has been so adamant about not telling Bella how someone becomes a vampire?
he doesn't want her getting any ideas

5. Alice has a vision of the dance studio and the proceeds to question Bella about any reasons why she might go there. It seems to me that Alice saw Bella at the studio. Why didn't Alice clear this up for Bella by explaining to her that she shouldn't go to the studio?
her vision probably wasn't that clear and she didn't want to give bella any ideas

1. Alice tells Bella that the family will do what it takes to protect her because no one wants to look at Edward for the next century should Bella die. How do you feel about this line now that you have read New Moon and know exactly how Edward would react were Bella ever to die?
Alice was absolutely right. She probably knew that Edward would do something like he did in New Moon, since he couldn't live in a world that did not have Bella in it. What happened in New Moon just broke my heart.

2. Jasper talks more in this chapter than any other chapter. What things do we learn about his character from the way he reacts to Bella? Were you ever afraid of him during this chapter?
Jasper is very caring and wants to protect Bella. He also knows that he has his limits, and so he usually keeps a safe distance to Bella. But in this chapter he actually touches her, and that seems to be ok for him. I was not afraid of him. Edward and Alice would not have let Jasper escort Bella to Phoenix if it wasn't totally safe.

3. This is the first time we learn that the vampires are venomous. What was your reaction to this news and did it make you think twice about the fact that Edward had kissed Bella?
It made sense that they were venomous. But i hadn't really thought about it. I was not bothered by them kissing at all. The amount of venom in a kiss would be very small. And Edward is very protective, so he would not have kissed her if it would have put her in danger.

4. Why do you suppose Edward has been so adamant about not telling Bella how someone becomes a vampire?
He wanted to keep the idea of becoming a vampire completely out of Bella's mind. Therefore he wouldn't tell her anything about it. He did not want her to wish to become a vampire.

5. Alice has a vision of the dance studio and the proceeds to question Bella about any reasons why she might go there. It seems to me that Alice saw Bella at the studio. Why didn't Alice clear this up for Bella by explaining to her that she shouldn't go to the studio?
Hard question..I have thought a lot about it. One theory is that Alice's vision was still very unclear, so she didn't trust it enough to scare Bella by telling her. But I think it might be more likely that she saw Bella in the studio, but she did not know that she was there because Bella herself decided to go there. She probably thought that Bella was there because James had decided to get her there. So I don't think that Alice knew that Bella was planning to volunteer to go there, therefore there was no reason to try to stop her. And maybe Alice saw that everything would be ok. Many theories, I really don't know.

yes it did i dont know how that is possible

4. Why do you suppose Edward has been so adamant about not telling Bella how someone becomes a vampire?
i think he would feel that he will give her ideas about coming a vampire

I think it’s funny considering no one would have to look at Edward if Bella dies. Okay my attempt at humor set aside, I think that no one could ever imagine that Edward was so in love with Bella except for Bella and Edward. Maybe Jasper would feel the same way about Alice. But I think no one saw that Edward had that type of response in him.

2. Jasper talks more in this chapter than any other chapter. What things do we learn about his character from the way he reacts to Bella? Were you ever afraid of him during this chapter?
Why would you be afraid of Jasper in this chapter??? I mean seriously come on. There is nothing to be afraid of. I mean he opens his mouth. That’s the only reason to be afraid. We learn that he pretty much loves Bella. Not nearly as much as Edward, and definitely not as much as Alice loves her. He may love her more than Emmett, but him and Emmett love her in two different ways.

3. This is the first time we learn that the vampires are venomous. What was your reaction to this news and did it make you think twice about the fact that Edward had kissed Bella?
Nope. It was one of those things where I read it and was like well I guess it has to go right into the blood stream and not go through other channels. If kissing her had been dangerous, Edward would have never done it.

4. Why do you suppose Edward has been so adamant about not telling Bella how someone becomes a vampire?
He doesn’t want Bella to know what it’s like. He doesn’t want her to go through that process, so he thinks that he will never have to tell her about it. He doesn’t want her to make that choice and go through the pain.

5. Alice has a vision of the dance studio and the proceeds to question Bella about any reasons why she might go there. It seems to me that Alice saw Bella at the studio. Why didn't Alice clear this up for Bella by explaining to her that she shouldn't go to the studio?
I don’t think Alice knew Bella was going to go there. At least not yet. I think Alice wanted to be positive that the studio and Bella were in no way connected. They really weren’t. It just so happened to be that it was visually dynamic. At least that’s what I got.

1. Alice tells Bella that the family will do what it takes to protect her because no one wants to look at Edward for the next century should Bella die. How do you feel about this line now that you have read New Moon and know exactly how Edward would react were Bella ever to die?
I think it was Alice not entirely telling the truth to Bella. She knew that Edward couldn't live without Bella; with all the different strands of possible futures she saw, Edward heading to Italy if James succeeded must have been one of them. Telling Bella would have scared her, and Alice didn't want to do that; instead, she guilts Bella into believing what they're saying by telling her that Edward would be miserable, something Bella never wants. She lied to Bella to get her to believe them in the best way that she could.

2. Jasper talks more in this chapter than any other chapter. What things do we learn about his character from the way he reacts to Bella? Were you ever afraid of him during this chapter?
Exactly how empathetic of a character he is comes to light in thsi chapter, the first time you ever really see him. He shows that he does love Bella like the rest of the Cullens and that he isn't as distant as I thought; he stays away because he doesn't want to risk hurting her, not because he doesn't care as much as the rest. He is a genuinely warm and loving guy, he just keeps his distance to be safe rather than sorry. I was never afraid of him; I was impressed, though, with exactly how well Alice and Jasper worked together to get through her visions.

3. This is the first time we learn that the vampires are venomous. What was your reaction to this news and did it make you think twice about the fact that Edward had kissed Bella?
It hadn't occured to be that they weren't... I kind of guessed by how sharp his teeth were, and how he pushed Bella back before they could get carried away, that they hadn't kissed properly, though, so it just makes me more in awe of their relationship that they could hold back, and more respecting of Edward's self control.

4. Why do you suppose Edward has been so adamant about not telling Bella how someone becomes a vampire?
Because he thinks she'll get ideas if she finds out. Also because there's a tiny part of him that wouldn't want to scare her off becoming one; though that part of him is suffocated by the part not wanting her to know.

5. Alice has a vision of the dance studio and the proceeds to question Bella about any reasons why she might go there. It seems to me that Alice saw Bella at the studio. Why didn't Alice clear this up for Bella by explaining to her that she shouldn't go to the studio?
I think that Alice put Bella's being in the studio down to a failure between her and Jasper, not that Bella would go of her own accord; she'd think that Bella should know that she shouldn't go to the same place that James is without even having to TELL her that. And she wouldn't want Bella to worry by warning her not to go there, incase Bella's mind works overtime looking for reasons that she SHOULD be there and ends up finding one.
'Out of nowhere, she was perched on Jasper's back, her lips at his neck.
Jasper chuckled, shaking his head.
"You truly are one frightening little monster."'

1. Alice tells Bella that the family will do what it takes to protect her because no one wants to look at Edward for the next century should Bella die. How do you feel about this line now that you have read New Moon and know exactly how Edward would react were Bella ever to die?

Mostly that Alice & family have underestimated Edward's love for Bella.

2. Jasper talks more in this chapter than any other chapter. What things do we learn about his character from the way he reacts to Bella? Were you ever afraid of him during this chapter?

I never really knew what to make of Jasper throughout Twilight. I wasn't afraid of him, really, just never really felt like I got to know him that well.

3. This is the first time we learn that the vampires are venomous. What was your reaction to this news and did it make you think twice about the fact that Edward had kissed Bella?

Not really. Even tho all the Twilight kisses were very steamy, they never really got too physical. Plus, I was pretty sure Edward thought of that already. :)

4. Why do you suppose Edward has been so adamant about not telling Bella how someone becomes a vampire?

Having read Midnight Sun, I know it's because of Alice's vision. While I read Twilight, though, I thought it was because he didn't want her to become a vampire.

5. Alice has a vision of the dance studio and the proceeds to question Bella about any reasons why she might go there. It seems to me that Alice saw Bella at the studio. Why didn't Alice clear this up for Bella by explaining to her that she shouldn't go to the studio?

I actually have two conflicting theories about this. My first theory is that it was because Alice wasn't actually sure that Bella would go; that the vision wasn't all that clear. My second theory is Alice saw the entire thing happening; and knew that was what HAD to happen.

1. Alice tells Bella that the family will do what it takes to protect her because no one wants to look at Edward for the next century should Bella die. How do you feel about this line now that you have read New Moon and know exactly how Edward would react were Bella ever to die?
I think she didn't want Bella to know what he would really do. She would try to stop him, and the others would have to grab him so he couldn't get away. They wouldn't let him kill himself, though how they would manage it I'm not sure. But since he was so much in pain for that one day in New Moon...he would never have gotten over it, and the others would have felt so horrible. They wouldn't be able to look at him or talk to him or anything....and that's if they got him not to die, which I seriously doubt would be possible.
2. Jasper talks more in this chapter than any other chapter. What things do we learn about his character from the way he reacts to Bella? Were you ever afraid of him during this chapter?
I wasn't afraid of him. He was just being careful. He shows that he cares about Bella too. He cares just as much as the others (except Rose..) and he is so perfect with Alice, how could you be afraid of him? He knows her so well and when she has visions, he's right there helping her.
3. This is the first time we learn that the vampires are venomous. What was your reaction to this news and did it make you think twice about the fact that Edward had kissed Bella?
I didn't think it was really news...I somehow just figured that when they changed they were bit, and something changed them right? I thought that was all implied, it wasn't really surprising. It never did make me rethink when they kissed.
4. Why do you suppose Edward has been so adamant about not telling Bella how someone becomes a vampire?
He didn't want to give her too much information, because he didn't want that for her. He wouldn't let her know that because he knows she would be like 'Oh, change me!'
5. Alice has a vision of the dance studio and the proceeds to question Bella about any reasons why she might go there. It seems to me that Alice saw Bella at the studio. Why didn't Alice clear this up for Bella by explaining to her that she shouldn't go to the studio?
She was probably confused, because Bella didn't know she would be going yet. Bella didn't even know anything about it until the phone call. Alice should have explained more and Bella should have asked more about Alice's visions to prevent what happened. Alice didn't think Bella would ever manage to go there, and doesn't see why she would, so she doesn't worry and concentrates on the tracker. She also probably didn't trust Bella with the knowledge, and never expected her to go of her own accord.

1. Alice tells Bella that the family will do what it takes to protect her because no one wants to look at Edward for the next century should Bella die. How do you feel about this line now that you have read New Moon and know exactly how Edward would react were Bella ever to die?

It gives you a new perspective on how Edward feels about Bella. You also realise the impact it has on everyone including her. As the reader, it's pretty obvious that Edward is completely in love with her and would do anything for her etc etc, but Bella is oblivious to this as she thinks they're imbalanced. It's shocking to know just how close the Cullen family are, and that they would literally do anything for each other.

2. Jasper talks more in this chapter than any other chapter. What things do we learn about his character from the way he reacts to Bella? Were you ever afraid of him during this chapter?

I don't think i've ever been afraid of Jasper. It was explained at the start that he was the newest addition and had a harder time with their diet. I think we learn that he does care about Bella, but he is also careful because he knows that if he slips up it would have implications on the whole family, mainly Alice, which he wouldn't want to do.

3. This is the first time we learn that the vampires are venomous. What was your reaction to this news and did it make you think twice about the fact that Edward had kissed Bella?

I think it was pretty common knowledge that vampires are venemous lol it didn't really make me think twice about Edward kissing Bella because he doesn't bite her when he kisses her so there's no way the venom can get into her system lol

4. Why do you suppose Edward has been so adamant about not telling Bella how someone becomes a vampire?
Because she's planning to become one, and the transformation is extrememly painful. He is someone that tries to protect Bella from any kind of hurt. It's ironic that the worst kind of physical pain she should feel will occur because of him. I think he's half protecting her, half protecting himself from thinking about what she wants him to do.

5. Alice has a vision of the dance studio and the proceeds to question Bella about any reasons why she might go there. It seems to me that Alice saw Bella at the studio. Why didn't Alice clear this up for Bella by explaining to her that she shouldn't go to the studio?

Alice doesn't see Bella at the studio, she just see's the studio because this is the path that the tracker has taken. She only questions Bella about it because Bella notices that it looks exactly like the one she used to dance in. It was also pretty obvious that Bella shouldn't go there, seeing as Alice saw that that was the place the tracker was going to. Bella only went because James tricked her into thinking he had her mum...

Alice was right.

2. Jasper talks more in this chapter than any other chapter. What things do we learn about his character from the way he reacts to Bella? Were you ever afraid of him during this chapter?

no not really

3. This is the first time we learn that the vampires are venomous. What was your reaction to this news and did it make you think twice about the fact that Edward had kissed Bella?

It was a different way of looking at a vampire. No because Edward was in control

4. Why do you suppose Edward has been so adamant about not telling Bella how someone becomes a vampire?

He didn't want to tell her about the pain that they went through.

5. Alice has a vision of the dance studio and the proceeds to question Bella about any reasons why she might go there. It seems to me that Alice saw Bella at the studio. Why didn't Alice clear this up for Bella by explaining to her that she shouldn't go to the studio?
Alice visions are subjective.
