I totally see where your all coming from. For me, when a band makes it big, and gets a fairly well charted song, they loose a bit of their edge. Their just another face on the sea of billboard bands, and they just aren't as exciting as they once were. I would love New Moon to contain only independant, unknown bands, so we can get some exposure for them, but that being said, I don't hate bands after they've made it (because if that happened I would hate Nirvana, The Clash etc and that'd be the day I die) because it's what bands wish for, to make it big and you can't condemn them if their song is just insanely catchy and has everyone loving it. I didn't think that it was out of place or bad for Muse, Paramore, Linkin Park (or even Radiohead over the end credits) to be in the film, because they fit and it's kind of stupid in my eyes to hate a band because they made it. I don't understand what you're all saying about 'Supermassive Black Hole' not fitting, I thought that was a highlight (if not the highlight) of the entire film, and not anymore cheesy than any of the 'dramatic love-filled moments' between B + E.
It'd be different if JoBro or Miley Cyrus came along and got a song on the soundtrack, then it would be completely comercialised and all about making money (and less about making a great film in the Twilight Franchise).
I can see where you're all coming from though, in not liking bands after they've hit it big, but you can't just hate a band because their popular, if you enjoy the band then why deny yourself some happiness?

tpam i get what you mean. I do like supermassice black hole....and the baseball scene...but i think that like you said doing things like this looses muse their edge..i'm not blaming SM for her music taste, but since it became commen knowledge loads of twilight fans have got into muse....and i think it's great they have more fans, but this does 'loose their edge' and they become more of a comercial band.
yeah, i LOVE the clash, i wish they could add some old time rock into the soundtrack...it would be soo cool.
i don't think we are saying(well i'm not) that i hate bands because they've made it...i mean i will never stop loving oasis, or joy division....it is just that for a movie of such stature it would be better to have un known artists/bands involved...that way they have more chance of being picked up, and you don't end up with teen pop/rock like paramore taking the limelight away from the film itself.
does this make sence?

Oi, Paramore aint some teen band. *gets defensive*
Well, I guess that's their image now, since their songs have been in the movie.
They deserve the limelight, their music is beautiful.. mainly their stuff on their first Cd, not so much Riot!

ok, sorry, that' jut how they appear to me...so i guess that them being in twilight didn't do much good for them either.
i dunno, just not my kinda music.
i mean if people enjoy their music then i have no problem with that...i jsut didn't like them in twilight, i found it abit pointless.

Totally agree about Muse.
They now have a massive following after Supermassive Black Home was played in Twilight. Ive loved Muse even before it was introduced into Twilight, and it does kind of annoy me in a way when people say, "Oh I love Muse!" "Oh that was played in Twilight".
The song is gonna be remembered for Twilight, whereas it is us the true fans who would listen to their albums regardless.

I freaking love you! Let's be friends. The cover of Such Great Heights is a masterpiece. My favorite song is Lion's Mane. So calm, so soothing.

I politely disagree about Paramore being a teen band. I'll agree that most of their stuff from All We Know is Falling was very good, but at the same time I was sixteen when I was listening to that. Therefore, teen music. Also, I've been to many different schools and I've met very many stereotypes. The girls I found listening to Paramore at first were emo/scene thirteen year old wannabes. They've transformed, perhaps not by their own accord, to a mainstream band. Especially with the release of Riot! It seems now that you cannot get away from them. They were featured on MTV at one time which is the largest signifier of a once unknown band becoming very billboard. I'm not disagreeing that their earlier music was very well written, but if you listen to Riot! so much of it is poppy, upbeat, top twenty tracks. There is nothing wrong with that either. I just don't like it for the Twilight series. That's just me.

Also, I don't want anyone yelling at me about stereo-typing or labeling. I have taken psychology in college and it is completely natural to stereotype. So do not tell me you don't do it! Everyone does!

Well, I'm 19 and I fairly love Paramore. I just think the lead singer Haley writes amazing emotional lyrics. That's what I look for in music; something that speaks to me on some emtional plane(wow, that sounded weird) I think any band as long as it connects to you and other people can have followers who are any age. So maybe they are sorta "teeny" (Is that a word? ) I bet they also have older followers to. I think this is why they were in Twilight, the lyrics to "Decode" and "I caught myself" fit amazingly well, and if they can make a song for New Moon like this..well then I say let's hear it!

As for stero-typing and the labeling, yes everyone does it but can we try not too? It can hurt people's feelings and maybe as whole (i.e. like the earth) can try to stop. Is that so hard to ask?

I know there are tons of songs out there but i think they might use fairly new songs. Songs that might not even be releases out. I really hope Robert Pattinson sings on the album although i highly doubt it. If this album is really looking to make girls cry then they really need to use Evanescence! It doesn't get anymore emotional then that.

Here is a small playlist of songs i think would fit well but just in my opinion. It's kinda limited because I picked songs from my iPod. I included parts of the lyrics since i dont want the post a mile long.
--------------------------------------------
1. All again for you- We the Kings
When you were mine, you know.

We had it all in front of us
You were the one, I was in love
But you always hurt the one you lost
I couldn't get enough.

You were everything that's bad for me.
Make no apologies;
I'm crushed, black and blue
But you know I'd do it all again for you.
----------------------------------------
2. You Found Me- The Fray
Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lyin' on the floor
Surrounded, surrounded
Why'd you have to wait?
Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late
You found me, you found me

In the end
Everyone ends up alone
Losing her
The only one who's ever known
Who I am
Who I'm not, who I wanna be
No way to know
How long she will be next to me
----------------------------------------------------
3. Day of Rain- Thriving Ivory
I wake up late
Sometimes I wish I never woke up at all
And I contemplate
I guess maybe I'm better off alone

I'm gonna leave this place
I guess winter got the best of us this year
And the sky's a mess
I'll run out in the middle of the pouring rain

When the day is done and you're not here again (Reapeated over and over)
Note: This song also has a killer guitar solo! You'd have to hear it to understand!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Monsoon- Tokio Hotel
A halfmoon fading from my sight
I see your vision in its light
But now it's gone and left me so alone
I know I have to find you now
Can hear your name,I don't know how
Why can't we make this darkness feel like home?

Running through the monsoon
Beyond the world
Til' the end of time
Where the rain won't hurt
Fighting the storm
Into the blue
And when I lose myself I'll think of you
Together we'll be running somewhere new
And nothing can hold me back from you
Through the monsoon
---------------------------------------------------------------
5. All Around me- Flyleaf
I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

Note: I really doubt they would use both Paramore and Flyleaf on the same album. they sound too much alike.
------------------------------------------------
Okay, i know, i know. Transformers beat them to the Punch but i think it still fits. It goes along with Edward perfectly. But still...
6. What I've Done- Linkin Park
What I've done
I'll face myself
To cross out what I've become
Erase myself
And let go of what I've done

For what I've done
I start again
And whatever pain may come
Today this ends
I'm forgiving what I've done
Vampire vs. Werewolf is the new Pirate vs. Ninja
