Glad to see people are chatting here about the photos cause I really have to! Hi Suzan, hi corona!

I LOVE :swoon: the breakfast photo of Bella and Edward - I can practically hear their conversation just looking at their faces! And I love the table top details in the picture, so Cullen - the never-used gourmet cookware, the clean glass butter dish (I had one of those once and they really are beautiful), the full jar of boutique jam, the placemat that most people don't bother with for breakfast. But I am disturbed by the lack of bruising. Barely visible because fresh? Digitally added later? Please, don't tell me they're going to skip over the bruising - otherwise there's no reason to have the chess shot, which BTW is a cute play both on the book cover and Jacob's comment about playing checkers on the honeymoon.

I always knew that I was going to see it on opening day - first showing if I can. As a now-veteran of opening days on beloved movies I can tell you that the audience is typically very, very quiet, and respectful of others' desire to see and hear the movie with as little interference as possible. Of course it costs more, too.
corona wrote:Taylor’s comments were hilarious, he’s apparently getting tired of keeping his shirt off when its cold and raining. And his comments on the imprinting… well, he is still confused on the whole thing, so welcome to the club. I can just picture his conversation with SM – “So, Stephenie, do I imprint on the baby or fall in love with her?” – “Actually it’s kind of both, Taylor, except you don’t really fall in love, except you kind of do,” – “Huh?” – “Just stand over there and look mesmerized for the scene, OK?”
I thought the same kind of thing but you thought it funnier, corona  Thanks for sharing! Taylor's comments remind me of recent Lex discussions about imprinting and WTH it is.
Suzan wrote:BTW, I noticed something else about the cover of Edward and Bella (or is it RP and KS?). Bella (KS) has her eyes closed so you can't see whether she is human or vampire. Just thought it was fitting for the promotional pictures.
Based on skin color, and that this looks like the same top as in some of the honeymoon photos, I think she is still human in this shot. Plus the rumor I heard was that BD1 ends when she opens her eyes after the conversion.
corona wrote:Interesting comments from Kristen. Apparently, (sorry about this, a little spoiler here, but it is on the Lex blog), there is no spewing a fountain of blood to start the birth scene. Yes, prior comments are coming true to form, they are going to be very careful how they do that whole birth scene. Well, if they’re going to take out the blood fountain, I’m pretty sure they won’t be doing the spine snapping either.
Suzan wrote:Personally, right now I wouldn't mind if they toned down the birth scene (but not too much of course).
Always love to hear from Kristen! I guess I can see eliminating the fountain of blood although I will miss it (I think). I hope they keep the spine snapping though, that could be done not too graphically. I've always been a little disappointed that they have so much trouble displaying vampiric strength on screen, I think that people who don't read the books (like some media interviewers) miss that whole aspect. And then it will be dramatic to have that repaired.

Suzan, I love your dancing smilie!

I don't know if I'm going to get these magazines, or "borrow" them from somewhere, but if I do, should I photocopy it for you, or mail it when I'm done with it? Someone else has complained about the absence of these issues outside the US.

It was not just a scream, it was a blood-curdling shriek of agony. The horrifying sound cut off with a gurgle, and her eyes rolled back into her head. Her body twitched, arched in Rosalie’s arms, and then Bella vomited a fountain of blood. Bella’s body, streaming with red, started to twitch, jerking around in Rosalie’s arms like she was being electrocuted. All the while, her face was blank—unconscious. It was the wild thrashing from inside the center of her body that moved her. As she convulsed, sharp snaps and cracks kept time with the spasms.

Whoa, buddy, and that is just how everything starts!

From the MPAA Ratings site:

There may be depictions of violence in a PG-13 movie, but generally not both realistic and extreme or persistent violence.

I think they took a look at the entire scene and just decided they would really be pushing it trying to portray as much as they could, that it had to be toned down in order to ensure the PG-13 rating.

Ooh its so exciting. Great to see the magazine covers etc. I hope they portray some of the agony and trouble Bella has whilst being pregnant but due to the low film rating I suppose they will keep it fairly non-violent and gory, which is a shame in one way as the book is slightly scary and gory during the pregnancy. Mind you I was surprised how graphic the book was regarding this. But at the same time they need to keep it tasteful and appeal to a wide audience hence keeping it toned down I suppose. We shall have to wait and see...

I was looking at this picture and wondered what scene it was. It must be pregnant Bella, right? Way to big sweater, sloppy looking hair, shocked look on their faces. Maybe after the "little nudger" kicks her again?

Maybe this is one of the last days of the honeymoon and since they were away for two weeks, surely the bruises most have disappeared already. Weren't they almost gone by the time they have their second ..uhum.. honeymoon? Which is also around the time that Bella really starts craving her eggs for breakfast. I don't think "fresh bruises are barely visible" fits because she is supposed to wake up covered in them, leading to the unhappy-Edward-morning-after conversation and indeed the checkers, which I find a nice touch as well.

Glad you like the smilie, but it's not really mine, haha! (just click on View more smilies while you are typing a post and you'll find it along with even more hilarious ones)
Thank you for offering to copy the magazines. :) There are already scans of the magazine on the internet though, so if I can't find it I will be able to read the article that way. But I would just like to have a copy of the magazine in my hands, you know. Somehow that always feels better to me. (I also can't get into the whole e-book reading thing. I like the feeling of holding a book in my hands, turning pages, seeing them on display on my book shelve. It makes me feel more connected to the story if I can touch it, I guess.) I did find one of only two stores in the country that import magazines from the US and they have EW, although they were still at the Water for Elephants issue (did buy that one). So I think I will just wait a bit and hope that it isn't sold out before I can go there again. People is more common here, so I think I will be able to find a copy of that.

Thanks for the BD quote, corona. I have shivers running down my spine reading that. :worried:
But technically speaking, this scene (and basically the whole Twilight Saga) has no realistic violence. I mean, it's a vampire-human hybrid breaking out of the mothers womb. I don't think it can get more unrealistic than that. Even some fans argue that it is unrealistic in the Twilight universe itself. ;)

I looked at this pic on the scans before I linked through your post and I thought that maybe it was when Kaure looks at them and realizes that the vampire has gotten the pretty girl pregnant. Neither Bella nor Edward look haggard enough to me to be back at the Forks house, but then, I always look for more grit than the movie delivers. I just have a very specific picture in my mind of Kristen as Bella, curled up on the white couch in the white house, stringy sweaty hair and big gray sweatshirt (my favorite sweatshirt ever was gray), almost as pale as the vampires.

Hello Marielle,

For the trailer for BD1, I think the BIG question is whether they are going to show Bella in her wedding dress. Hmmm, maybe a few flashes of it as a teaser? That's a tough one, though, because it is in the very beginning of the movie and is really a moment defining what BD1 will be all about, and yet it is a highly anticipated major reveal scene. Not so much for the book, but for the movie it is definitely major. And then there is Bella's scream, that it a definite YES.

I think whoever is making the trailer is having a lot of fun right now.

But for BD2? How in the world are you going to make a trailer for that? The whole movie is a huge reveal scene for BellaVamp.

You know, I am really on the fence about the trailer and what they will or will not show. On the one hand I want to see every important scene as soon as possible! But on the other hand I really don't want to see some of it until it is in all its one-and-a-half-hour glory.

Like the wedding dress: I'm dying to see what the dress and the wedding look like, but I also feel like it should be this perfect, breathtaking moment in the movie when Bella is escorted down the stairs and the aisle by Charlie and we see her in the dress for the first time. Ohh, I melt just picturing it in my head, so beautiful and romantic (totally cheesy, I know ;) ) I think that moment will be completely ruined when you know what it looks like from the trailer, for me at least.
Maybe a good solution would be showing Edwards expression as he stands by the altar and he first sees Bella (bound to be a perfectly beautiful, breathtaking shot as well). Then a close-up of the two of them saying "I do". Close-up of the exchanging of the rings and then cut to the honeymoon. That way we will only see their faces and their hands and not the dress.

For BD2: If BD1 ends with Bella opening her eyes, then I guess it's okay for them to show her as a vampire in the trailer for BD2 but maybe not "in action" if you know what I mean. Don't show her hunting or sparkling or using her gift etc.
If BD1 ends while the transformation is taking place or sometime before that, then maybe they will focus on the Volturi and the gathering of the Cullen-side witnesses. But then they would have to show Renesmee right? I think she is an even bigger reveal and problem for the trailer than vampire-Bella.

I don't think it is officially confirmed yet (right?), but since it's almost become tradition with the previous movies everybody assumes the first footage will be shown at the MTV Movie Awards on June 5.
Let's hope so!
