My mother says she picked my name because it wasn't a popular one, but since I've yet to go to a school or have a job where there isn't someone with the same name as me, I think my mom may have been living under a rock...
My best friend just happens to have the same exact first and middle name that I do.

When I chose my kids' names, I wanted names that were unique but not really out there where people go "huh??" when they hear them.

My name is Sarah. All of my siblings were given Biblical names. We named our daughter Amelia Grace. She is 16 months old, and I don't remember if it was popular when we were looking at girl names while pregnant. We had the girl's name narrowed to two, and when the sonogram confirmed it, Daddy called her "Amelia," so that was it!!! Grace has always been on my list of names for a girl, and was the #1 choice for a middle name when we found out we were expecting. We call her Millie for short, and that is a name I never hear floating around. I hope it's unique enough that she won't have friends with the same name. lol

For Mother's Day, I received the best gifts ever... coffee brewing in the kitchen, which of course drew me downstairs where I happened upon what I affectionately refer to as HusbandPorn.... my hubs on his hands and knees scrubbing my kitchen floor! Hot damn, but I've never wanted to throw the man on the kitchen counter and...errr... well.... slowroast something more!!

The name discussion really had me wishing I'd had time to stop in during my week of hell... I wonder what MafiaPrinceWard would think of Caryn, so spelled because my parents couldn't agree on the color of the sky, let alone the spelling of my name, or after whom I am named, even. You get two stories, depending on which parent you asked. Now, in naming my monkeys, we wanted traditional names of our heritage, my hubs and I both being Scotch-Irish. So, we picked them based upon that. It was only after we sent the announcements of Littlun's birth that I realized that I had become the parent I used to mock. My hubs and both sons are all S names. *facepalm*.

QotD: Well, that is an interesting one, considering the timing. My mother and I do not really get on well. Something about both being monumentally pigheaded. But, my very earliest memory is of my mother waking me in the wee hours of the morning to sit together on the couch and watch the wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles.

Brisket, kielbasa sausage, and ribs, all in my smoker. I'm going with a mix of hickory and apple wood. Salt Lick dry rub for the brisket and ribs, Driftwood Texas, just outside Austin, are there any lovers here for that?

Memorial Day Weekend Update.

Brisket, kielbasa sausage, and ribs, all in my smoker. I'm going with a mix of hickory and apple wood. Salt Lick dry rub for the brisket and ribs, Driftwood Texas, just outside Austin, are there any lovers here for that?

Oh, yeah! I've lived in Texas, and smoked, grilled meat is to die for. Salivating already....

I have no idea what items 1-3 are.

For us, we go to a church friend's house for the big day (which means your drink selection won't be available ). Since we live in Wisconsin, there will be burgers and brats, cheese curds. friend cheese curds, cheese plates, venison sausage, sour kraut , pickled everything (seriously, they pickle anything that holds still long enough to be dunked in salt and vinegar!), egg salad, deviled eggs, rye bread, and corn from Iowa (we just planted it here).
I will bring watermelon and sweet tea, because I am from the south.

Items 1-3 are brands of beer. The IPA and Milk Stout tend to be a bit heavy, so I only pick up a few of those for variety. The Yuengling is from America’s oldest brewery in Pennsylvania, but now has a local brewery nearby in Tampa. It was the only thing I liked when I last visited the state and I was in Amish country in Lancaster county. I found the food there surprisingly bland. My brother is supposedly on the Atkins diet, low carbs, so he showed up with Michelob Ultra, which is really nasty stuff, but to each his own. He drank my Yuengling and left his nasty beer with me. What’s up with that? I hate that. It’s like when you order pizza for a group and have to end up getting several veggie only or cheese only pizzas and you can squeeze in only one or two meat lovers pizzas, and then the people who insisted on the veggie pizzas end up eating the meat pizzas.

I have a niece and nephew who live in Wisconsin. I only visited there once at my niece’s wedding. Fried cheese curd? Never tried it, but it sounds very interesting. Brats and sauerkraut and deviled eggs are great. What is it about deviled eggs? I can never stay too close to them before they are all gone. I never tried venison sausage, but I have had reindeer sausage. Poor Prancer was very tasty.

Everything came out great except for my brisket. I found out at the last minute that my mother had to leave early, so I ended up cranking up the heat on my smoker to be sure the meat was done on time. It came out flavorful, but tough, dang it. There shouldn’t be any leftovers if the brisket comes out right. There were leftovers. I’m glad I stuck the kielbasa on, so it wasn’t a total disaster. Sausage is always great insurance in case things go wrong.

Yum. Now my mouth is watering.

I am making chocolate chip, butterscotch chip cookies. They didn't turn out very good as far as look and texture, but hey they all go in the mouth and they taste good.
